Sooo I have been casually scouting about for a new place to live for quite a while now. Our current apartment, while I love it, is old. We have major mold problems (very likely it is toxic black mold! ) and it is getting to be too small for us. Not to mention the whole no furred or feathered pets thing. Anyways, we are looking at a house! The price is very right, the location is perfect, only a few minutes from where we live right now. Nice neighborhood, lots of room for storage (an entire unfinished basement!), 2 bed, 1 bath PLUS an office (Pet-proofed study room anyone?! ). My roommate did a drive by and said the rooms are small, but with all of the extra storage space that shouldn't be a huge deal. AND it has a garage! All totally newly renovated (no mold!), and best of all - it allows pets! I emailed the lady with our applications and an explanation about the pets. I just hope that she believe me that Koda does not smell and I am very responsible with my critters. I offered to have someone in town (she moved to Manchester for work and isn't in town) meet my pets to prove it. I REALLY hope this goes through! This could be a HUGE improvement for me. ****crosses fingers REALLY hard!****

I hope that your endeavor is successful. It would be so good for you to have a place where you wouldn't worry about loosing your place to live because you chose Koda to be a furfriend, or worse having to loose Koda for a place to live. ciao

Thanks guys! I went by after work today and it is really cute. It is small though. The bedroom is like half of my current bedroom. BUT there is a lot more storage space in the basement and whatnot, so I could probably get away with a smaller bedroom...if I put Tito somewhere else. Here are some pictures I found. It is really cute and the neighborhood is cozy. maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=1447264526797275872&q=2500+Galewood,+anchorage+AK&hl=en&cd=1&cad=src:pplink&ei=NFPfTNiCOqrwowTu25zKCA Oh, and it is NOT for $1800 like it says there! haha The woman quoted me $1100 Utilities included, which is an Awesome deal for this part of the country.

I sacrificed a lot of room when I moved last month. My room not is about a quarter o the size as my other room, but some of the perks just outway the size, as I'm sure you know. Cleanliness, able to ferret proof, fenced back yard, all of that outweighed the size. I ended up getting a loft bed to create more room in my room. It has some downsides, but I LOVE my room now. I wanted to mention it, in case you needed an idea to create more room

We will have an entire basement for storage, and I will put my big streo in the basement next to my treadmill I. Am. So. Excited!!!! *does a little dance* I want to go wake up my roommate and start moving right now! hahaha

ok...I don't want to be a buzz kill, but have you actually spoken to this lady (homeowner) on the phone or is it only through email? I only ask because there are a lot of scams using Western Union and once the money is picked up there is absolutely no way to get it back if it is a scam, with western union there is no receipt from the person that picks it up... I would speak with either the broker or the leasing agent and submit all money to them instead of using western union that way everything is traceable, and there is a paper trail.... I know, i can be a bit of a pessimist (sp?) but I would much rather there be a papertrail, hand written or computer printed receipts from the leasing/realestate company handleing the transaction, than rely on Western Union...maybe because there are just so many people out there to make a quick buck, and I know that there are still a lot of good people out there (the crew here on HF for sure!) but I guess with all the bad going on I've kinda lost my faith in the general public to be honest.... I mean the house is super cute! Love the fact that it's all remodled, hooray no mold, and the prospect of ferret math, but don't want anyone to get taken advantage of and $1100+ is a lot to loose....

Not pessimistic at all. I appreciate both your concern and the heads up. I was already leery of sending $ online lol but now that I know WU has been used for scams before I will be even more cautious. I have her phone number actually and will get a hold of her in person first, as I still have a few questions. I am not comfortable sending money without having some sort of garuantee first. That is good to know that Western Union has been used in scams before. On the link with the pictures it has a number for a real estate agent that I will call too. Whether she has an agent now or not, that person appears to have been involved with the house at one point so I am going to call and see what they know.

I also noted the bad grammar. So I am still excited regardless, but there will definitely be some investigating done first.
