Ok zeke gave me A major scare today. Got them all up from cage time, and zeke had blood all over the inside of his mouth, it was dripping out the sides. Of course I thought the worse that he had a bone cutting his throat. Once I got a look I realized he had a piece of bone stuck on a tooth and it was cutting in to his gums. Got the piece off rinsed his mouth. A few raw marks on gums but no more blood. Gave a dose of pumpkin just incase. He's running around now like nothing happene. So now I'm pretty nervous about leaving the ground up food in the cage unsupervised.

Oh. That stinks. He'll heal up quick.
That is an issue with the bones ground up. They're small enough to get wedged and too small for them to get any leverage to dislodge them. I do wonder if some of the load bearing bones that ferrets may not eat on their own getting ground up into their food is the problem.
Do what you need to do. Maybe their ground stuff is fed only when you're home and you can leave big stuff in their cage to experiment with.

Tried the chicken wing, neka dragged it around for a bit, but that was about it lol He. Is also fond of stealing the dogs food. He stashed a bone from the dogs this morning I had the pleasure of stepping on while opening the curtains lol
No more yucky poops from sadie, but still watching.
I got some dehydrated liver and kidney for the dogs, can the ferrets have this? How would I give it?

Sure try out the dehydrated stuff. You can either re-hydrate it in some warm water or feed it dry. My critters love, love, love dehydrated lamb lung. I break it into little bits and use them as treats. If you're going to feed it as part of a meal I would suggest re-hydrating it. Be aware that it may cause some loose poos, so don't go overboard if they think it's the greatest thing ever.

Zeke and Neka will eat the raw with out soup! Kinda happened when they started stealing the dogs left overs (raw). Then i put some of theirs in the cage with no soup and the boys ate it no problem. Sadie of course just looked at me like wheres the good stuff LOL

Oh I knew it! Competition is sometimes the best teacher. Sadie will come around. She's just being snooty. "If the dirty boys like it, it must be no good!"

Yes she is a little princess lol Okay so for the last few weeks I've been weighing the brats about once a week. The boys have gone up and down and up LOL only an oz or so each time so i figure it's maintaining and the variance is due to the time of day/having eaten etc. (I can only weigh then when sleeping LOL so it's difficult to do at the same time) Sadie has gone down each time (from 1lb15 to 1lb10) Since Dec 3. So this and her lowered appetite have me a little concerned. Her poops have been similar to everyone else's. Her energy is good, though lower then Neka (not hard to do! ) it is comparable to Zekes. I'm going to give her an oz of just soup everyday see if it helps. Do you have any suggestions? Does this concern you or am i just being paranoid? lol Is the soup a good idea? Only other thing I'm wondering is if this could have to do with the changes in th last month... neka arriving, new cage and less time with Trix (as the girls came to us together). I can't do much about the cage or neka, and I do do supervised 'visits' with trix, but can't trust sadie alone with trix as she has been rough with her. Thanks

ok now worried. Sadie has some very runny, cream coloured poops. She ate soup last night readily, and ate only a bit of raw today. someone threw up breakfast. I gave her a dose of pumpkin in case its a blockage. but everything I've read talks about ece. could this be the issue? My understanding is these types of poops could be blockage, ulcer, ece, or flu like... did i miss anything? I'm just not sure what to do about anything other then blockage, really. or rather how to determine which it could be other then blockage. Which if it's connected to the funny poops she had last week, a blockage seems unlikely. She is drinking fine, and is not dehydrated, I've been offering some every hour. Her energy still seems fine, and she does not seem warm, though i have no way to take her temp. If she does not seem better after the pumpkin I"m going to make a visit to the vet.

Let me have one of the admins take a glance at what's going on here and get their opinion. I don't think you need to freak out yet, but let's get someone with more experience on the job here.

No runny poops since yesterday early afternoon. Still a few orange ones coming out though she did 'OK' eating dinner last night. Today ate a fair bit, but i had to force most of that one her. I start with holding her and offering her the bowl, which she just sniffs and tries to walk away., then food on a spoon which she sniffs and takes a bite then tries to get away. I then hand feed her and she eats like she starving, till she finds a piece that needs a bit of chewing, She then holds her head up really high, as though carrying a 20lb bass and i let her go into the small crate for that. When she's done i offer her more while sitting in the crate, she just sniffs it and tries to leave, I pick her up and hand feed her and she eats like she's starved till she finds a pieces that needs more chewing..... and this continues for about 20Min's LOL till she refuses to take anything when I'm holding her and hand feeding. So Don't know what to think, the little princess just like giving me heart attacks! ;D Trixie having more seizures and the honey on her gums is not bringing her out of them. Looking at changing/upping meds. I don't feel that it's totally the insulinoma that is causing them, as behaviour wise it seems more like a stroke to me then a typical seizure you'd see in a human, she losses ability to drink as in can't figure out how to do it though you can tell she wants to, and she can't coordinate her legs to move except in a circle if at all. (except after about 20mins she gains back her gross motor skills) Last night was the first time she loss bladder/bowel control with it. She is a prim and proper little lady and this distressed her. I was holding her and she kicked her legs once or twice but that was all she could do, then made a donking groan like sound and urinated on me. about 10mins later (of course after i had changed) she did the same with her bowel at least this time i knew what the sound meant and moved her in time. Family is not coming now. My nephew is autistic and not dealing well with the change in routine that Christmas brings and my sister is not up to the 5hr car ride here with him. I'm kinda glad, as was not looking forward to the ensuing chaos.

Sadie Sadie! Thoughts from the admins was that it could be a bacterial overload. Were her poops stinky? It's agreed that a vet visit may be in order. Heather says it's NOT ECE, so don't worry about that.
I think I would just continue to baby her for now. If it is a bacterial overload you may need some antibiotics or maybe we can get things back in order with pumpkin and perhaps some kefir. Feed her what and how she likes for now. Let me know how you want to proceed.
Poor Trixie. What a fighter that little one is! Keep up the good work. She knows you love her.
