So Koda usually makes pretty clean kills when he is fed live. We have been feeding him outside though. Well it is now cold, so his last live mouse or two he got in the bath tub. It had been a while since he hunted in the bathtub and his kill was not very clean. I thought perhaps this could be due to his natural instincts having been heightened when hunting outside. He still is a good little hunter, but I would like him to make a clean kill in the tub as well as outside! With his whole diet issue he hasn't gotten mice (I ran out of my breeder-feeders, but should have more soon) other than frozen mice. I will have more live soon though and of course want to give them to him. We'll see how he does this time I guess, but any thoughts as to why his kills have not been as clean in the tub as outside? (And by "clean" I mean instant, as opposed to slow death of course, not like, less blood or anything haha just in case anyone new to whole prey is reading this ).

It's possible that he was just distracted by being back in the tub, instead of outside. It's slippery, and he's not used to it anymore. He'll likely pick back up with the next couple.

Slippery tub was going to be my suggestion. Lack of traction can undermine his whole attack. It might take a while for him to get back onto his "inside" game. ciao
