If you can convince my husband.....or maybe I can just sneak one more in. At this point, I am not even sure if I'd notice!

i felt that way after number 8 but you know it when it is time to feed them--8 eat more then 7, 9 eat more then 8 and so on. But other then that nope not a big difference between 9 and 10. (i know that 10 is my limit though)

I am having a lot of trouble with my new ferret. She is refusing to eat. Anything. Not even the crap food she was sent with. I have resorted to feeding her duk soup every 3 to 4 hours during the day. She isn't very happy with me right now. I just don't know what to do with her, or why the sudden refusal to eat. I couldn't be a bowl obstruction....saw her poo very well yesterday. She won't eat kibble. She will grab a piece (to shut me up), run off and drop it in a corner somewhere, then leave. I am at a comlete loss. Anyone else have this trouble, and how did you resolve it???

I'm pretty green compared to a lot of others here, but here's my two cents.
Lucy was similar when she first came home. She didn't want to eat, be it kibble or raw, she would turn her nose up at the fish oil and just sat there, watching Chaplin eat his chickunz. I thought maybe she might be intimidated by him, since Chaplin was strange to her and bigger, so I would hold out scraps of meat and kibble, or set them in her corner. No dice, at least not right away.
Turned out Lucy just needed a little while to adjust. She was very nervous around us for her first few days and made a few vicious attacks on Chaplin - after she realized she had nothing to fear and Chaplin was infinitely more terrified of her, she calmed down and ate the food in her stash corner, and she is now eating merrily from her bowl right beside Chaplin each evening. I know your girl started out on a crummy diet, so she didn't come from a really knowledgeable owner, so maybe she just needs a little time to settle in?

Maybe.........I'm just worried and nervous! She has only been in my life 1 day, and I am worried sick about her. I even called home while I was at work, just to check in! I hope she snaps out of this soon!

I hope she snaps out of this soon! Do you have contact information for her previous owners, or if I remember correctly from your other post about her, the kid's parents? They can maybe tell you if she has ever behaved this way before, if they were attentive to her. If she's only been with you for one day, I'd say give her time and patience. We went through the same tense anxiety with Lucy, but she did indeed come around, and I'm sure your gal will, too. She's probably just a little upset over the whole thing. Best of luck, though, either way.

most of my older ferrets when i got them did not really eat for 2 or 3 days after bringing them home--they just needed a time to adjust. let us know if she is eating any better you might have to force feed her, and also i would get her to a vet asap just becuase of her other home being not so good.

I have sent an email to the lady I got her from. It was her son's ferret, but since moving to California for school, he left her behind. I am hoping to find something out soon. I had to feed her by syringe this morning, just for my peace of mind. I knew she at least had something in her tummy before I went to work. She will eat duk soup from a spoon if I am holding her in my other hand. Otherwise, no eating. She is still very energetic...runs and steals things just like my others. I just wish she would start eating on her own....even kibble!

Just imagine how she feels coming from a neglectful home for 1 year and then in the snap of a finger everything around her is new. Once she starts feeling your love for her she'll come around.

As for secret service, my husband also does not qualify. Nothing he ever does...is ever a secret!

Hey Jaycee! Sorry it took me so long to respond to this!
Hang in there! Its gotta be rough for that poor thing. Just give her time and she'll come around. Im sure it will be stressful during the inital stages of her adjusting to home, but you can do it!. I look forward to hearing how this little one does under your care. Once she gets settled and gets on the proper diet I am sure it will be amazing to see her thrive and flourish! Thank goodness you got her!
