HAH I love giant rabbits =]
I was going to buy one for 15 dollars and butcher it and have food for my dog (didn't have a ferret then) for a few months, but then I didn't know if I could kill it, and didn't want a giant rabbit wondering around in my backyard LOL
wait.. is that too much info for a thread talking about your childhood pet... i'm sorry hah =s
If I could kill it, that would be my main supply of rabbit for the animals... so much cheaper than regular rabbits.

That would feed a lot of rabbits! I couldn't kill one either... I can't even kill bugs without feeling guilty.

I feed Koda rabbit. ;P I think I could raise rabbits to feed Koda, but I would want someone else to do the killing...once they were dead, I'd have no problem doing whatever else, but the actual killing part...not so much.

I can't do the killing either...it still creeps me out that even after they've been skinned and have no head that they still twitch...gives me the heebie geebies! once their done twitching I don't mind grinding or cutting them up and bagging them! I know my fuzz LOVE their bunnies and Ping will fight the others so she can eat her's with out having to share!

I'm not sure if I could do bunny's - they are too cute (not saying mice aren't =[ hah) but they just have the fuzz to help them out!
I was watching this video a while ago about CO2 chambers and I was all pumped and being all "Yeah! I can do this! Bring it on!!" then he actually started the chamber and they slowly fell asleep. and I almost cried, My stomach was empty and i felt so bad.. That's when I thought - hmm maybe I shouldn't breed them JUST yet...

Yeah. If I ever get into a living situation where I could breed rabbits I would like to. BUT my plan would be this...there is a woman in town who sells rodents and other feeders. She orders from RodentPro, and she breeds her own mice. Rats are illegal in Anchorage because we are a port town, but you can have them in the valley, about 30-60 min out of town. lol Anyways, she said she was going to try to get someone in the Valley to breed rats, and that she would help them Euthanize. I guess she knows someone who used to breed them, but they didn't know how to euthanize properly. Anyways, I think if I bred rabbits, I would have her euthanize for me in exchange for either a certain % of the rabbits (they are REALLY expensive) or for payment. Of course, I would have worked this all out before I started breeding because I would hate to have all of these bunnies and then ask her and have her say no (which I doubt she would) and then be stuck trying to get rid of them all! haha I think once they were dead, I wouldn't mind learning to skin them. The furs could be useful...and the ferts just want the meats anyways! haha

Mine don't usually eat much of the fur on rabbits On other prey yes but the rabbit seems to have a lot more and they avoid most of it. Although the cat loves to play with it. I found a big piece of rabbit fur in the toe of my shoe this morning Luckily there was no flesh attached

Yes, playing with it and dragging it around is all part of the game. There are some great tugs of war that goes with it too. By the time they're finished though, a lot of it has been consumed. I have to agree with you though, they do leave more of the rabbit fur than they leave of the rats ciao
