I used a van to move my one ferret nation, we broke it into 2 sections with some assembly and disassembly being done in the driveway when we discovered it didn't fit into the van in 2 sections. We did succeed in the end, I can't unfortunately remember just what we did. I just remember realizing that it wasn't going to fit in the van and I wasn't going to drive 2 hrs back and forth again to get the left over pieces. The one that I'm getting this week is disassembled as was the last one that I got. ciao

I recommend disassembling it as little as possible because you could strip a scew. (A lot of whether or not this will happen may depend on whether the person who assembled it put the screws in straight to begin with. You'll probably want to remove the shelves and ramps so they cannot fall down if you hit a bad bump (I have to tie-wrap my shelves to the cage frame because Shaman is big enough to remove them ) WARNING: the black plastic part of the shelves and the entire floor pans are prone to damage because they're prbably made of that somewhat brittle plastic. The latest shelves and floor pans are made of a different type of plastic, but I think these tend to get soft and lose their shape if they sit in the sun for a good cleaning with the hose. You definitely do not want the shelves falling onto the floor pans and you don't want any sharp corners, etc, knocking into any of the plastic. I'm so happy you're getting the FN - you'll be sooooo much happier with it than the bird cage. I assume you have heard about the risk with the older style shelves and ramps. Some ferrets have gotten their toes/feet stuck in the small gap at the edge of the shelf or in the ramps. Most people are using fleece ramp and shelf covers to prevent this from happening. You can get ramp and shelf covers on ebay. I recommend checking out LFFR (Little Feat Ferret Retreat) on ebay - or check out the LFFR web site, which is where more of the shelf covers, etc, can be found. -jennifer

If a screw it stripped, cant I just get another one?
and I've heard about the ladders being dangerous, I'm planning on stopping at the fabric store to pick some 'ladder covers' up.

That's great that you've got someone there to grab it for you! You'll love the FN- soooo much easier to clean As for disassembly, there are also metal "joiners" between all the sections, sort of like a plug, so hopefully those don't get lost down inside one of the pieces! As for the screws, they are rather short, if I recall, so might be difficult to replace. Although you could likely order them from Midwest if necessary.
