why the only mouse who looks preggers is the male!? I KNOW i have two females..... and its been exactly three weeks to the day... we have company today and a bunch of kids running around. naturally they wanted to look at the mice. and.... i noticed befor that the male seemed a wee bit larger than the other two but today especially HE looks big in the belly. is my stud a dud?? did he eat pinkies that might have been born during the night?? or am i just being too impatient?

I wondered the same thing about my male mouse Seemed like he wasn't doing his job. I had stopped checking on them as often except to toss in some food and give fresh water. They would always hide when I opened the cage so I wasn't getting a good look at them. One day I finally decided to feed off the male and replace him. I took the mouse cage to the bathroom (where I give live mice) and opened it to grab him. As soon as I did I noticed all the females were super pregnant. Male mouse did not get fed to the ferrets after all Unless you saw that your females were pregnant (you'd be able to tell) and now aren't, I don't think the babies were eaten. They're probably pregnant now and just not showing yet. It was about a month before I saw my mice were pregnant. I'd give it a couple more weeks and if they still aren't showing, try another male.

i'll do that then. i was really hoping for results sooner since they were all in a community tank i may still get another male because i dont want diluted/indred mice later on down the line, which i'm sure i already have. but i'll give him some more time. what i might do is buy a fancy doe and keep her and that buck in another tank. i dont like to bug them too much except for food, water and cleaning out crud. they dont like being held but the know who brings dinner the moment they hear the lid scraping they come out of their hidey holes lol

Mine aren't that smart Anytime they hear me coming they run away. Of course I'll eventually feed them to the ferrets so maybe they're smarter than I thought

It seems to take a little while after first introducing them. After the first batch though it should (in theory - if you leave the male in) start rolling along pretty quickly.
