It's entirely possible. One of the largest oral issues with ferrets besides plaque covered is broken teeth. Most can be directly related to cage biting. I've had a couple who have broken teeth while having cage wars (ferret inside trying to bite ferret outside, or ferret outside grabbing ferret inside and seeing how well ferret inside fits through bars to become ferret outside ) Odin actually broke off his canine right at the gum line trying to drag Fun-Go through the bars by using the blanket Fun-Go was sleeping in. Result.....rush to vet to have "toofies fixed" Fun-Go still sleeping.....Odin....toofless ciao

Poor silly Odin!
It scares me when he does this. I now stomp my foot and shake my finger. I swear if he could give me the middle finger at that point he would! LOL

Silly Odin is right. You should have seen him the next time he went hunting. Try holding a mouse when you don't have any front toofies left He's got it down now, but it took him a bit to learn to use his feet to position the mouse, so that he could then choke it out. Now, he's got it down to an art....he rolls the mouse like you would bread. It's just as fast but it's different ciao

Yeah, I'm not quite done. lol There is a LOT to write! I don't know if I'll have time to finish it up for a few weeks though so in the meanwhile the things I have found work best are vinegar-heavily sprayed on the item, diluted only about 30% as the 50% dilution was ignored. Lol Also a good spray bottle of water set on stream can help distract them for a few seconds. Lol

Such an awesome thread! When I first brought Calvin home he was all alone. It was kinda sad to see the little dude all alone in the FN. He wasn't an only ferret for long but still. He was always watching me, walking back and forth across the cage until I took him out! He's deaf and I believe mute, I've never heard him make a single noise. He definantly became easier to handle after I brought home his buddy Martin!

Calvin? No he still hasn't ever made a noise. Martin is always making noises and stuff.

Yes, this is a awesome thread Katt! I can definitely relate on too many levels. Although Pixie is my soul ferret, I cant help but regret not getting her a friend earlier. I feel like she is super attached even though we have Trixie, and though they do play, she prefers my company.

I'm REALLY glad it's proving helpful! In his first year, Koda managed to put me through just about everything!!!! So I had to learn a LOT fast. We would probably both be dead without this forum! I'm glad that what I learned the hard way can help make it a little easier for others.
