I LOVE fried plantains. Anyone ever had 'em before? They are like my favorite food! You take plantains (which are a type of bananna, although they taste a little more starchy, kind of like a potato) and you fry them up in peanut oil with some salt until they are golden-brown on the outside. Then you serve em with cold sour cream.
Yum! I believe this is a common dish in Jamaica and/or south america.
So totally random lol, but I was just eating plantains and was curious if anyone's had them before.

Yes! We have made them. But we fried them, mashed them and then fried them again. They were really yummy. A new grocery store opened near us and they have them real cheap. They are really good.

I love them SOOOOO much! I am going through an obsessive phase where I pretty much eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Your way of making them sounds really good, I'll have to try that! I drive half way across town just to go to a store that sells the plantains, I love em that much!

The store down the street sells them for like 25 cents each. I'd love to eat them everyday but that would be too much sodium, lol!!!

platanos is what we call em..I'm puerto rican and its a common puerto rican side dish..we slice the green bananas, put them in salt water for some soaking, take them out after a couple mins, smash them some and then fry em..there is also sweet ones where you slice em, fry em, and eat them with eggs(over easy) very very very good! ;D
