Now i'm unsure.... which do you prefer when raising/breeding feeders for ferrets? i just saw in an old thread that six week old rats have the same bone density(or calcium??) as an adult mouse......
sooooooo.......
i may end up going with mice anyway because i've owned both rats AND mice and the rats have so much more personality lol even the jerks. i've always said they are like pigs... cats look down on you, dogs look up to you, pigs look at you as an equal... and rats just seem to be the same lol however the mice are like "what ever dude, i got other things on my mind" .. i never could make a decent pet out of any of my past mice.. the closest i ever came was a little black buck my brother gave me when his landlord had a hissy fit over it.... he was friendly enough you could pick him up, but he would always attempt to jump out of you hand at some point.
my rats? they loved to ride on shoulders, in your coat pock, sit in your lap, follow you like a dog, come when called.... bla bla bla
i could see myself getting attached to the little buggers....
i'm still curious though... pros? cons? doesnt matter?
whats your experience?
if i go with rats i'd have to change a few things. i dont have any cages for rats at this point. just glass fish tanks and some totes.. i'd need cages for sure.
but hypothetically.... if i breed rats, how many would one ferret eat? the same amount or less than if i was feeding mice?
and would breeding rats be the same as with mice? the harem system?
and is the cannibal risk the same or less/more with rats?
sooooooo.......
