Wow! That's crazy! I'm glad your able to get out of that situation. I am *almost* going through the same situation. The difference is two smaller dogs than a bigger one, and less of a dog mess (they are not THAT destructive) and more of a people mess. Plus, I'm going back to school, so I'm moving back with my 'rents until I can same for my OWN place, no roomies.

Hey, guys! We're really close to finding a place. We've looked at a few options, and we're definitely moving out very soon-there's a place we're really hoping we get, and we may get it as soon as tomorrow. cross your fingers for me!

So, we found a place where the landlord is really understanding about the ferrets, and said he didn't mind having them at all. It has a great amount of space, and we'll be moving out within the next few weeks. We did pay rent here for one more month, and let our room mate know that this was our last month doing so, so he should make other arrangements. We're trying to keep it as pleasant as possible between him and us, but if he starts acting weird, we do have some friends we can stay with immediately that invited us to do so if we feel that the ferrets could be in danger. They'll be our future room mates, and I feel really happy that the ferrets have been their primary concern in this too-and actually suggested to us that we all move, as the place we're in is also sketchy at times. So, happy day!

Update!: The last week has been even worse than before with our room mate, so we actually found a place available sooner, owned by the same person as the place I spoke of before. Needless to say, we moved in in a big hurry. There was no doubt in my mind that we were doing the right thing when we were leaving. Our old room mate didn't take all of his things, hoping we'd move em', I guess, and he basically stuck us with all of the cleaning and then left. Whatever though-karma.
The new place is nice-and the ferrets approve, also, though I do think they're stressed from moving a tad. Our room is big and though not everything is unpacked yet. Our room mate has also come to play with them every playtime so far-and he absolutely loves them and asks tons of questions about them every time he sees them. Plus, we are psyched about being able to have them in the living room without a huge dog trampling them. Wewt!
In short, this place rocks. It's quiet, and beautiful, and cheaper to boot. Plus, the furkids have a better life here. So, now, I am quite happy. Thanks for motivating me, guys!

Grats! New place sounds great. Reminds me of when my bf moved out of his ghetto house full of druggies and criminals. Aside from being robbed blind, he was actually threatened several times and once with a gun But fortunately we found a better place for him after he was illegally evicted. The relief was indescribable. Wish his allowed ferrets though

Good move . I'm glad that you managed to get out of there. I was really concerned for the livelihood of your little ones with that puppy around. ciao

Thanks, guys!
Yeah, bluemoose, the last place we were in was only one step above that you described, really. The cops get called constantly, there are a ton of druggies, plus, the apartment itself violates a lot of housing regulations. Guys, when we moved in, the living room blinds were sewn together, so they wouldn't have to get new ones for the tenets. The railing to the upstairs was not affixed properly to the wall, the stove had burners that were not right for it. For that matter, the tiny little pos stove was a fire hazard and a half. It's more expensive than the one I'm in now because it's in town. Well, I have two feet for a reason, and I don't mind walking a few extra minutes so that my babies can have a place safe, sound, and wonderful.

It really is, especially when it is easily twice the size and 100xs nicer.

Oh, believe me, I will. He's caving, for sure. Oh, how he loves them-and always asks to play with them, or hold them. He loves them a ton, and hes a great roomie. Every time he hears them out and about in the bedroom he busts right in to play too. This situation is a thousand times better.
