some take to wings, or mice, right away. Some don't. Mine didn't take to either As you mentioned, chop up the wings, see how she does with that. As for mice, it's usually the fur they can't get past at first. I had to get pinkies and chop them up and mix the bits in with their regular meat, and work up from there!

i don't think she has been eating bone this time, just hiding it.
i got a new ferret. shes about 10 weeks old. i tried just plain chicken and nothing, so ill try something else tomorrow. i think I'm going to call her pebbles, but i might think of something else as well.
the person said she was a Marshall ferret, but i can't see any tattoo, so im not sure, and i got Marshall papers.

OMG!!! So sweet at that age Don't give up on the chicken with the little one. She has to settle in yet, keep trying. With Belle, thake the wing, section it, chop the drumette into 2 or 3 pieces, cut the middle lengthwise between the bones, then in half, and chop the tip in half. Although she may have to eat meat chunks a bit longer to build up her jaw strength just yet. But keep trying her with it. Sooner or later, she'll experiment with it.

ok cool. pebbles ate some of the gibblet i put in this morning. i put in the kibble over night but i guess someone had some of both, because there was throw up in the corner. i got some chicken wings and they had the tips on them, so ill try that when i run out of whatever else i had. the little bugger was eating around the bone and hiding it. like, why go through that trouble when you can just eat it? sweet? what are you going on about? shes a devil my little baby devil. loves biting everything. and she was so sweet in the pet shop, i have a theory that they drug the ferrets so they're calm and quiet in the store and when it wears off they have to bite everyone. lol. do ferrets lose baby teeth? also, do you know when i need to get her to a vet to update her shots?

I think you may be right on that pet store theory! My worst fear biter was just a trembly little thing in the pet store, who'd cling onto you, and not let go, nor would she stop shaking. I had to have the clerks actually help to peel her off of me every time I saw/held her there I thought she'd make some little girl a wonderful first ferret. WRONG!!!!! And yes, they lose their baby teeth like any other mammal, around 3-5 months old. And I take mine in for an initial check up almost immediately after getting them. Take your paperwork in, and the vet will let you know when she needs her next shots.

ok. thanks. ill make a appointment soon. since she's a baby, would she be eating more, because im putting in about 1.5 ounces(each meal, and sometimes put in a snack when i get home at 3), since i'd figure that she wouldn't eat that much, but its gone almost immedately. so as long as their eating it, just keeping putting more in? Pebbles is so protective of her toys! i feel bad for belle, since the ball pebbles had was belles and had all her teeth marks in it. pebbles was running by with the ball and i decided to pick her up, and oh my the hissing and screeching was like, wow. i don't think she likes "baths" i just put her in the water to see if she would play in it or what, and to also get off the poop she likes walking in

Think of how much food a pre-teen, or teenager can put away! That's what she's going through right now she will definitely eat you out of house and home til she's done growing! She's also like a toddler(as are most ferrets!) in that "sharing" is not in her volcabulary She sounds like she's got a wee bit of a temper. My youngest is like that, too, and she's a year old! Suki will actually nip if she thinks you can't get to her to put her in a timeout

she was also hissing when i put in a "snack" and of course the little pig took the bigger piece. and well belle thought she might share... apparently not so anyway, ill have some chicken wings tomorrow to put in, and see if she eats bone or not. i think i might seperate them for feeding, so if she eats faster/more i can just more in for her. that way i know if they are both eating enough, and Pebbles isn't pigging out on belles chow.

Might be a good idea, if only to give you an idea on how much Belle is eating right now. But Pebbles will stop when she's full, even if it seems that never really happens right now

lol. um, i found throw up when i came home. i doubt it was belle, but you never know. so im sort of worried it was pebbles. since i gave chicken wings im not sure if the bone didn't agree with her or something, because the bones were all chipped up and around her feeding place. and i don't know if belle ate her chicken wing piece or what....

I've found that a few times as well. Usually when they've either eaten too fast, or a bit too much in one sitting Just keep an eye out for it happening on a regular basis. And the fact she's crunching bone is great! I guess you're going to have to watch to see if Belle is actually eating it yet. She will be, if not already.

i found a good feeder breeder around here, he/she delivers, apperently to all of canada, though im not sure about that :S anyway, the highest for mice around here is about 2 bucks for adults and this persons jumbo mice are 2 bucks and the rats are pretty cheap too.

That's not a bad price! I go through Cricket Express. They have distributors across the country as well.
