they didn't take a blood test if thats what you mean? he can't walk anymore. i just feel hopeless. he can't go to the bathroom, well he does, but just were he's sitting.
right now i have to give him water in a syringe because hes not taking it otherwise i don't think, same with food. hes not eating raw or kibble, so im going to make up some soup now. just chicken, some kibble and water. (does kibble change the flavor of the chicken lots??)
how much water should Joe be getting in him daily?

Maybe talk to your vet about doing sub-q fluids. Also, get some chicken(or other meat) baby food if you want, and mix it with a bit of warm water. You can syringe that very easily. Not sure how much water he should be taking, but for food, if he gets a couple of tsp into him 3-4 times a day for now, it should be good.

Please keep an eye on what she's eating. I know you just lost Joe, and if she is grieving, she may need force feeding by syringe. It's not uncommon for a ferret to follow a bonded cage mate to the bridge. If she's stopped eating, pick up some chicken baby food, thin it out with water, and syringe feed her. If you are unsure how, have your vet show you. Good luck, and please let me know what's happening! Belle really needs you right now.

Please...listen to sherrylynne. This is a very common occurance with ferrets. They love hard just like they live. I actually had to go out an buy Napoleon for little Mischief. Mischief decided that he didn't want to live any more when Pandora passed on. There was nothing I could do to convince him that he needed to stay. A friend called and said that they had just received a shipment of baby ferrets. We took him in and he chose Napoleon. Napoleon was that thread that Mischief needed. I almost lost Mad Max when his best bud, Porthos passed on and Lady "B" grieved hard for her alpha mate, Attila. I've found that allowing the furbabies time with their passed on friend seems to help a lot and I don't get as many who want to follow their best friends to the bridge. It's their method of grieving. Mad Max (10 yrs or so) has lost many friends to the bridge (Mayhem, Porthos and finally Nicodemus), his ritual is always the same. He grooms his friends, from head to toe. It's just something he has to do. Good luck, I will light a healing candle for your little Belle. ciao

she is eating, but i don't know if its that much. i tried some thing new for her, since all i had was bone chicken, and she wasn't eating that. she ate some pork that i gave her, but im not sure if was all of it yet. i put about an ounce in at each meal, and i think that is enough. she'll eat the soup i make, its just that i want her on actual food.

As long as she's eating right now, that's the important thing, whether it's soups, or meat chunks. If she'll willingly eat the chunks, wonderful. If not, give her the soup for now.

she's eating chunks. i don't really know what else to say.
she didn't eat any of the organs i had put in her before. she did eat bone, but she didn't eat it again for awhile, so i don't know how to put her back on it.
shes only really getting pork, and chicken once in awhile. will it hurt her just for her to stick to one food for awhile??

As long as it's not for too long, it should be fine. The risk is that she'll imprint on that particular food. But we can deal with that. About how much is she eating now? The main concern for me is lack of taurine(heart meat), and calcium. Although that can temporarily be covered with powdered egg shells. One tbsp per 8oz of meat.

ok. she gets about an ounce at each meal. which is morning and super. i have a mouse that SHOULD be pregnant, and should be dropping soon, maybe within a week. so we'll see how she likes mice she'll eat soups and whatnot, so should i be doing that to get her to eat the organs?

First, let me correct my last statement I was tired, and typed in 1 tbsp of eggshell. I MEANT to type 1 tsp- sorry! For organs, as long as she's eating about the equivalent of one chicken liver a week, it's fine. Hearts, however, are not organ meat. They are muscle, and have the largest amount of taurine. All dark meats have more taurine, but hearts the most. The more a muscle works, the higher the concentration of taurine. They really need that for all neurological functions. Which is why, if they can't eat heart at least once a week, you should supplement for them.

ok, she doesn't seem to be eating chicken anymore. i put in a chunk of it this morning and she totally ignored it(well... stashed it ) but she first got on chicken. so i thought she would eat it. there was bone, but way more meat then bone.... weird ferret are young ferrets(babies) easy, relatively easier to switch then adults? because i think im going to go get a friend for belle Saturday, if they have some ferrets at the pet store then.
