Ok! The menu lets you know, and plan, on what they are GOING to eat. The food diary lets you know what they've ACTUALLY eaten from that diet plan, and how much. That way, you can look back over the course of a couple weeks, and see- ok, they didn't eat as much bone as I thought they would last Tuesday and Thursday, so I'm going to give them a bit more on Saturday, instead of a muscle meat meal. It simply helps you track, and make adjustments according to what they are doing.

That is good! They've learned to share Means they'll also chow down together on larger pieces as well!

i got started late on their food thing yesterday. they've been good for eating it all they had their first spleen yesterday and its was all gone like that. they love their new hammock and bed. hehe. i went to petsmart and decided to try and find some treats but couldn't find anything that just had mostly meat. so i picked up bedding stuff.

That's great! Could you also make me up a detailed menu as well? As in: Monday am: chicken wings Monday pm: pork chunks
Tuesday am: turkey necks Tuesday pm: mice
Etc.? They obviously don't have to have what I've listed on the sample menu, but what you are feeding them?

i don't have anything like that, it's just what i grab from the freezer. the bones could eventually be whole prey, maybe once i get some which i haven't yet. so Monday am would be like chicken wings, would probably be that in the pm. just an example, but whatever they have in the am is what they would probably have in the pm.
Monday am: bones Monday pm: bones
Tuesday am: heart Tuesday pm: heart
Wednesday am: bones Wednesday pm: bones
Thursday am: organs Thursday pm: bones or muscle meat.
Friday am: bones Friday pm: bones
Saturday am: bones Saturday pm: bones
Sunday am: muscle meat Sunday pm: muscle meat

I guess what I was trying to get at(and wasn't very clear about, lol) is what types of protein, and how often, are they getting, every week. I really shouldn't type when I'm tired If I've put a response here that is a little, well, less than clear, I've likely not had my first cup of coffee yet

Well, then. Before you graduate, I need to to copy and paste the following, with the answers after each, in your reply 1) How many proteins do ferrets need in their diet at a minimum? 2) Why do they need those? 3) Name 3 muscle meats 4) Name 3 organ meats 5) Which meat or meats are NOT acceptable in a raw diet: beef. pork. lung. ham. duck 6) Which meat or meats are NOT organ meat: Liver. brain. spleen. heart. thymus. 7) What possible dietary reason would there be for loose stools? 8) What can you give them in their diet for firming up stools? 9) What should be the maximum percentage of vegetable matter in a raw diet? 10) Does fruit play a part in a raw diet? 11) How much, on average, will a ferret eat per meal. The answers to all of the above are in the nutritional section of the forum, if you should need to double check.

Excellent! For the max veg. content- no more than 5%, and the amounts they'll eat is approx 1-2 oz per meal for the females, 2-3oz for the males. I'm going to turn this over to Heather, and we'll see about getting you graduated!!!

Sherrylynne just posted me and said that she thought you were ready to graduate. I've looked through your answers and your little ones diet. It looks good. Just a quick statement in answer to one of your answers....loose stools are caused by organ meats...correct...it can also be too much muscle meat too That being said. You and your little ones have graduated Your journey though complete has just begun. Please remember that at any time that you have a question that you may pm your mentor and she will be available to answer your questions (you of course may also make use of the whole list too ) So, never feel that you're alone I will leave this thread open long enough for your mentor, sherrylynne to also congratulate you and leave a message ciao

I have to admit- I was not only impressed, but surprised, by your initiative, in "jumping" the list by pm'ing both Heather and myself But if nothing else- that proved to me just how dedicated you were(and ARE) to getting your little ones onto a much healthier lifestyle!!! It's been a fun and interesting trip As Heather has said- please feel free to message me with any questions, and I really do hope we will continue to see you around the list! Don't be a stranger now that you and your little ones have finally graduated All that's left to say is You've made it!
