You said they were avoiding the chunks. That's the hurdle... getting them to eat bigger pieces.

Oh, ok. Yeah they are still avoiding the chunks. I have not tried feeding them separately but I will do that for their next meal.

Okay good. Ferrets like privacy when they eat and there just may be too much activity around their cage at mealtimes.

I put them in a closet, one at a time, and they still refused to eat the chunks.

Did you hand feed them?
Do you have some sort of feeding dens set up for them? Like boxes or something that they can stash and eat in?

No. I just put the food in their cage. There is no enclosed area for them to eat. I do not hand feed them either.

I just put a box in their cage and fed them. Hopefully they will eat all of the soup.

Try hand feeding chunks to them. If they want to take it from you and stash it, that's fine. Guide them toward whatever you're using as a feeding den.

They did not eat the chunks on their own in their den so I will hand feed them the chunks next meal.

When I hand feed Risa she will take some and go hide under newspaper to eat then come back for more food. I think she stashed a lot of it under the newspaper. Rikku licked it off my hand and ate the small chunks and ate 1 big chunk but he stashed the rest of the big chunks in the box. I got Rena to eat a big chunk too and she ate some small chunks and she stashed some food in the box.

Okay. That's good. Stashing means that they know it's special and must be protected. Can you leave the chunks in the feeding den until the next mealtime?

I did leave the chunks but so far they have not eaten them. Should I just not feed them until they eat the chunks or just remove the chunks after a while or what?

Pick them up and toss them when the next mealtime comes around. I don't think we need to do tough love. If they are stashing everything, maybe leave just a few pieces stashed and save the rest for the next meal.

Ahhhh! Good! They just needed a little time to get used to the idea of it. Your fuzz are so picky, let's stay right here for at least a week before we attempt to change anything else.
