Hello, My names Karlee, and I am a new (first time) ferret owner. I am planning to feed raw to my ferret, as I already have a raw fed dog. I am enrolled in the KPA training course (karen pryor academy) and needed a second speices to train. I picked a ferret because i've always wanted one / I have a freezer full of raw meat that i'm trying to get through using 1 - 6lb dog. So she could use some help =]
I will mostly be in the 'training' and raw forum, I'll be looking forward to meeting and chatting to you all!
-Karlee

Hi, Karlee! Welcome to the board Please, feel free to join in anywhere you like! So, what's the info on your ferret? Male, female, age, name, PICS? ? You'll find raw feeding a ferret to be a bit different than raw feeding a dog, but not a lot. Mainly getting them to recognize you really aren't trying to poison them with this new stuff I look forward to seeing you around, and hearing about your little one!

To post pictures here, you need an account with something like photobucket. Once you've uploaded your pics to photobucket, just scroll over the pic, click on IMG code, copy there, and paste here

Hi and welcome to you and Diego. You will find feeding or switching Diego a little different than the dog. Ferrets are rather like cats in the switching dept. Their tastes have been set in kitdom and they are fools when it comes to taste and texture. You really have to wonder about a creature that will eat any soft rubber but won't eat a good steak Please prowl the site, check out and read through some of the threads (there is a whole nutritional section), ask questions....check out our mentoring section too (there are some awesome switching tips in there). Most of all participate and have a good time, everyone's friendly and have a true passion for their little fuzzies. I hope that I will be seeing you around.....please post pictures....we love pictures ciao

No it's nothing like a rawhide - YUCK! I hate those! It's definetly dried. It's a safe alternitive to a rawhide in the dog world.

Hmmm, must be different than the ones that were at the pet store....great, try them with Koda, just remember when using dehydrated meat that they're going to require more available water ciao
