He's eating chunked meat multiple times a day and he even seems to prefer it to his kibble I haven't tried any bones with him yet. Just the mixture you provided

I would start him on boned meats. Chicken necks, small pork ribs, wings, quail or rabbit are some of the better meats with bone to try. Sounds like you're progressing very well. Great stuff. You need to get him to eat bone and 3 different types of protein to safely feed him a natural diet. Included in that is of course organ meats and heart. Keep me posted as to what's going on. ciao

Would it be ok to give him a whole dethawed mouse at this point? Or would it be too soon?

I would. You may have to play with him, with it a bit but get into a good game of tug and see what happens. There's no right or wrong way to teach them to eat this. There is only the way that works for your furbaby ciao

So today he finally ate a fulll 1/2 chunk of chicken neck He was having trouble with it up until now. He didn't really want to work for it and would only tear chunks off the side. I noticed that he isn't really digesting the surrounding tissue well. It shows up pretty much fully formed in his feces. Is that normal?

Until your little one's digestive system catches up with his diet you will see undigested food in his stools. Ferrets are a lazy crew when it comes to eating bone. They require bone and much more calcium than many other carnivores. Their shortened digestive track is the reason for the bone and sometimes even unchewed meats showing up in his feces. Remember to add skin and fat to his diet. The lean meats that we eat are too devoid of fats for our little ones and they will get very thin with just meat. Have you tried any organ meats yet? Gizzards are also a good chew and they have to eat heart to get the taurine levels that are necessary. You can also supplement with artificial taurine if you feel he isn't getting the levels necessary. Have you tried any other meats other than chicken? Did you try the mouse? Keep me posted as to your progress. ciao

So Percy is eating every raw piece I put in front of him. I tried a whole raw mouse but he wasn't interested so I'm going to try cutting it up into pieces. And so far he is only eating chicken. What quantities of bone, organ etc should he be getting?

It's adviced that he gets 3 or 4 days of bone in meat (he's eating the bone) and 1 day of organ meats per week. Now, that he's eating chicken you need to pick up another couple of meats. Beef, pork, venison anything. Cutting up that mouse is a good idea to see if he's going to eat it. It's worth a try... ciao
