I currently have a rice box for Ginny but I just read the other day that you can give a ferret a soil dig box with worms. I was told that superworms, mealworms, and a few others were good for a ferret.
Ginny recently lost her friend and I would love to have more fun things for her to do. She likes her rice box but I was thinking that maybe the soil and worms would be a fun, challenging treat once a week or so.
She is not eating raw now. I would love to switch her to raw since I feed raw to my dogs and believe that it is the best diet for our fuzzbutts. (I would also like my cats on raw but they said no, no matter how often I try!)
Ginny is currently eating Go! cat food, chicken turkey and duck formula kibble. Since Fred (Ginny's friend) was diagnosed with insulinoma and was eating only mushy food, Ginny only wants mushy kibble now too. I am giving her mushy kibble 3 times a day and she always has plain kibble and lots of water available. She refuses anything like chicken baby food, she actually gags.
Is giving her the superworms a good idea? Do you think that she will even know what they are? What is your experience with giving a kibble fed ferret something like this? Where should I get the soil? Is there anyway that I should treat the soil so there is nothing in it (parasites or whatever)?
If I did want to give her raw, how hard would it be to do? I feed my dogs raw but they get fed once a day and it is very easy for me. How often does a ferret have to be fed if they are eating raw?
Sorry there are so many different questions here
Thanks! ;D
