I use the ferrevite on Apple's tummy. He's still so jumpy when I go for his back feet, I usually have to add more to get him to hold still. So by the time I am done, I expect a bit of runny poo. I clip his nails about every 1.5 weeks. He continually scratches his shelves (to my major annoyance at 530am every morning) and then also scratches the plywood door dividers to get in my bedroom. So he pretty much keeps his nails filed on his own.
And then I ear clean every 2-3 weeks, depending on how it looks. Its a total PAIN! I have to stick him in a sleep sack and roll him up to keep him kinda still. Nothing else works, even so last time it took me 25mins to do this by myself! Hopefully I can find help next time.

I put a pillow on my lap, lay the baby on the pillow (feet/tail at my knees, head closest to my belly), squirt a generous little puddle of flaxseed oil (or salmon oil) on their belly, clip away while he/she is distracted licking up goodies:) The 1st time you do it, expect a little bit of a freak-out because you are putting some cold and wet on their tummy. Gently hold and direct nose toward goodies then clip away once they're licking it up. I haven't had this method fail me yet. Now mind you, for hairless babies (adrenals), you may need to keep applying the oil as it is licked up.

I scruff for the front paws and then for the back ones since the claws are so tiny and you cant use only one hand and chance clipping too short, I scruff with my mouth and just let them lay on my chest. Works like a charm. I takes only about a minute and a half to get done. Before I figured out this method it took about 10 minutes.

I used to sit on the floor, legs straight out in front of me, sit them in my lap, facing away, put the ferretone on their belly, & start clipping while they were distracted. As my business grew, it became increasingly harder, because the others would hafta see what I was doing & also loved to "help" lick up the ferretone. I scruff if I have to, but it's generally easier & quicker to use the ferretone on the belly. I have an old dresser that the top "drawer" opens up like a table, so i grab a ferret bed, to prop them up, put the tone on them & start clipping. I did it this morning. I do scruff to clean ears though, & since a few of mine are bigger 3lbs, 4lbs+....& scruff them & tuck the bottom half of their body under my arm, against my side, to help support them, because of their weight, & I still have an extra hand free to clean ears.
