tips are the favorites, usually the first to go! Well Im glad they are loving eating raw...this is going to be so easy for you!
My Penny learned how to get into my couch too and it took me so long to get her out like almost 2 hrs and I had to rip up the arm to get her out since she found her way up there lol....and it was an expensive couch too, so not the best situation haha
The poops may be seedy for a bit in the beginning b/c their bodies are still getting use to the different new meats going through their systems and their systems have to learn to "process" the meat....so this is normal in the beginning

Turkey necks It's kinda creepy how they eat everything and leave the spinal bones... ::shudder:: Oh well... I might splurge in some mice sometime this week... Let's see if germophobe Roomie complains... AGAIN.

I got a hold of some beef kidneys.. .two for two dollars. It'd be nice but they smell like pee... I'm not sure why I was surprised by that. I put in an order for one beef heart... It's five pounds of meat so hopefully it should last a bit. None of my animals like the kidney... NONE not even the dog. He spat his out... Any suggestions?

My guys dont like kidney either which is why I blend it up with the soups....start with a very small amount and hopefully the soup flavor will sort of mask it, then you can up the dose of it when they seem to be use to it

yea, mice are very rich and it tends to make ferts sick when they eat too much of them or too fast...so this is normal

Ok. It always worries me when one of them throws up. ^^; Yesterday was pork today will be chicken again. Tomorrow probably a liver/kidney/meat soup to see if they'll tolerate the kidneys better... Here's to hoping!

Good...so it seems your pretty far in your switch....list to me what they will eat and from there we can work in some more variety and then you can graduate soon! You should be very proud! Your ferts have switched rather easily....so we can go over what they are currently willing to eat, look at the bone ratio they are getting then assess from there....Great job!!!!!

They will eat: Pork chops (fatty) Turkey necks, any part of the chicken, Mice, beef liver They are not keen on: Beef meet. Beef kidney They have yet to try: The rabbit I bought them, beef heart, other cuts of pork, turkey or other meats.
I think they need more bone but I'm not sure... definitely need heart but that's another intro process.

ok thats a great variety so far, next we will work on beef and rabbit meats....my guys wont eat kidneys either but I just usually blend them into soups, so this could be a solution if yours dont take to them either
They do need more bone, wings and necks are great sources as well as cornish game hen (that is if your able to find them near you)
Then we can incorporate hearts in whenever you want, these shouldnt be too bad to get them to like....I usually feed hearts and gizzards to mix it up and keep it interesting haha

Thats ok, dont worry about it (I hope it didnt go to waste....I hear rabbits good, and I know its expensive!! ) Just let me know any new meats you try and their reaction to it (also if its possible, try to feed every other day some kind of bone-in meat...i.e, chicken wings, necks of any sort, whole cornish game hens) this will help get more calcium into their system and get them on track with normal bone feedings. *If you dont think they are getting enough bone for calcium (b/c calcium is very important for their bones and growth) you can dry out used egg shells then grind them up into a powder and add it to their soups or whatnot....they would only need a tsp a day though since this powder is very high in calcium I just wanted to mention this b/c when I was at this part of my switch I was worried about their calcium intake (b/c if they dont get it from food then their body takes it from their bones)...so I just wanted to give you this option too (and I use a tsp every week in their weekly soup, even though mine eat bone normally....so it can help)

hmmm the eggshells are a good idea but what do I do with the leftover eggs? Lol wings tonight since they've gotten legs two nights in a row they eat the ends but haven't been able to eat the middles yet... I think imma smash some of the bone open for them today.

Well I mean when I make eggs for myself or use them in a recipe, I save the shells in a paper towel and let them dry out and when I have a decent amount I ground them up into a powder that I save in a tupperware.....you can save the egg shells for a while until you get enough.....I usually keep them for up to 2-3 weeks until I grind them all up together (just make sure they are open to air so they can dry out, if they are in a container they can mold since they wont be able to dry out)
what I do for wings is I take one and cut it into sections...(for a large wing) I cut the first section (the tip part) into 2, right at the joint...then the second section I also cut into 2 as well but you can also cut these long wise since theres 2 parallel bones running through them....then for the third part (the big part), I just cut all the loose meat off the large bone and give this to them on a plate....Usually they just pick the remaining meat off the big bone since its kinda too big to chew and they seem to like the cut up pieces b/c it makes it easier for them to chew.....imo
so if you wanted to try this, I have found it helpful for me....I usually cut up 2 wings for each feeding (morning and night) for 3 ferrets and it seems to be more than enough
