Sherrylynne's computer is in surgery but there is full hope that it will recover and be back to work shortly. I will try and help you out if possible. I don't believe in starving a ferret. As most of our furbabies are farm ferrets and rescues too, we have no idea what these stressors will do to them. I feed as normal and if feeding soupies, I will remove kibbles for a max of 3 to 4 hrs while offering soupies or raw foods. I usually do the capture and nose to finger method with the offer of spoon feeding if they're receptive. The stuff and scruff is a last resort method, though I have used it on occasion.
