After some research on flooring, I chose to do my floors in those stick on squares. I found out my bedroom/ferret room is 11.5 by 8.5. My budget was little over 50 bucks for tiles. I ended up spending 44 dollars on 120 tiles, 5 or so bucks on two picture frames, and like 3 bucks for Velcro guys, stick on hooks, and a small thing of bungee cords. All n All, I spend 56 bucks for this project.
I think the hardest thing to do was to pull up my carpet in the ferret room. The carpet was soiled beyond cleaning, stinky, heavy, and felt like sand. After pulling up the carpet and the under stuff, I spend the next two hours pulling up strips of wood that were put down to hold the carpet in place, and 300 or more tiny staples. UGH! I also pulled my back out!
But in the end, My bedroom turned out pretty good. I still have to caulk the corners, and gaps because my bedroom is slanted and crooked. The tiles had to be shaped, or placed on just enough in some places. The ferrets are really mad because they have not been out in little over 24 hrs. They aren't coming out till the seams are sealed!
I also took my plain board that goes across the door way and sliced a foot off of it. I am currently in the process of painting it..yellow.
Pictures:
Rat cage & Mice cage. Everything is just placed in places to get it out of my living area.
Just after finishing placing the tiles down. I had enough to do most of the wall, but had to leave one stretch of wall blank. It isn't a high trafficked wall so no biggie.
My chalk board! lol I painted this to keep little thoughts and to do lists in the ferret room. Works great. What you don't see is after the photo I put a hook beside the door way to hold my container of chalk. I also have one of two picture frames settled just by the light.
Everything is just thrown in, but that is the set up of where things go. I would love to get a tall dresser instead of wide, but I don't want to give up my grandfathers dresser.
Futon shot! Maybe that is why my back always hurt? I sleep on a slab of air.
So..I think I have done pretty good for a ferrent. Got rid of the old bed for a futon, got rid of old cage for a FN, and now the rugs are replaced with easy to clean tiles. I wonder what is next...
