Made a rodentpro order. Just picked it up. Good stuf, except they forgot my 10lb rabbit. :/ Hopefully they sort that out and can send it to me. I got 125 chicks, 100 fuzzies, and 10 medium guinea pigs. How long can I leave the guinea pigs in the cage before I shoul remove them? They are fairly large, and he picks at whole prey throughout the day. I was thinking of doing something like 1 guinea pig every 1.5 weeks, and use the mice and chicks as the main staple of his diet. He'll also eat soupies, but isn't fond of raw. Is this an alright, balanced whole prey diet? The chicks are bigger than a full grown mouse, so I feel they are an adequate daily meal. The fuzzies are small, so if that's all he's getting for the day, I wil give him two. Or give him a chick and one fuzzy. We found out he despises rats. Who knew?

Problem with chicks is they don't contain anywhere near enough calcium(same thing goes for the fuzzies). You likely shouldn't give them more than once, at most twice, a week, simply because of the lack of nutrients. Chicks are basically like candy to them. And that's how mine treat them! They go bonkers when I toss in chicks And mine will actually eat about 2 chicks each. They may be larger in size, but that's mainly feathers. With fuzzies, I can count on giving 2-3 per ferret. As with any whole prey, the guinea pigs are good for about 24 hours in the cage. Have you tried them with adult mice, or even hoppers? With those, they'd get the calcium needed, as well as the other trace minerals from the bone.

Yes, I have. But this is just what I got from rodentpro. He's still eating kibble, too. We're mainly using whole rey as a daily supplement.

Ok, I thought you were no longer feeding kibbles. If the whole prey is simply supplemental feeding, then it should be alright.

We're working on it. But I'm still too afraid to take it away. I'm playing with combinations and trying to find what works, what I have access to regularly, what he'll eat, etc.

Mine aren't that fond of raw after a whole prey meal either, but they've learned that's what they are getting, so they eat it
