There is a client at my work who has an elderly, diabetic Dachshund. She is already pretty holistic and feeds Innova/Evo, but is concerned about them having sold out. We got to talking about raw diet and she wants to learn more and see if it would be a good option for her dog, esp because she is getting a new puppy soon. I have seen links to other forums and sites and such on here before for Raw Diets for Dogs, but I am not sure where they went. Can you guys help me? ANY links to ANY GOOD information that I can pass along is appreciated. I am sending her to this site to get info on raw diets period, so any extra advice that I can give her straight from you guys would be great too. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, I would like to send her the info soon because if she switches she wants to do it shortly after she gets the puppy (which is soon) so that she does not have to change the puppy's diet twice. Thanks in advance as always!

Oh yes, and the link to the company that sells the freeze dried food would be fantastic too if anyone has it!

There is a natural feeding group for diabetic dogs...on yahoo. She would probably have to prowl through the yahoogroups to find it. She could try rawpaws@yahoogroups.com if she likes. They cover a lot of natural health issues and deal with switching dogs as well as cats over to a more natural diet. There are also a couple of people on board that may be able to direct her to the diabetic group too. They were discussing it just a few months ago, which is why I remember it. The puppy won't have any issues about switching at all, the only problem that she might encounter is if it's a pure bred and some breeders are more antiraw than the vets Feeding a raw diet to a dog is easy, the whole diabetic thing might be a bit different though. I've not had to deal with this issue. You will have to wait for someone to pop in regarding the freeze dried food, I do my own so have never had to deal with it. There are a number of companies on line though. ciao
