I am!
Grrrr. my roommate can no longer stand the smell of my ferrets. Despite the fact i clean their litter box often, and just did a complete overhaul of their cage and room it 'still smells'.
So i get to find another place to live because it came down to me or my animals and there is no way I am going to give up my babies just to live close to the beach with a raging B!TCH!
*collects herself* anyway, i am lucky to a certain extent. My exboyfriend's parents LOVE me and since I am still friends with my ex they have offered to let me rent one of the rooms in their house (His parents do not live there, they just own the house. My ex does live there however until july). So I will be trading a decent sized room for $500 a month + utilities and cable for a smaller room with more windows, and $500 a month including utilities. score! Only problem is I will be farther from the beach but that's ok.
I am just very frustrated. I have tried so hard to make my roommate happy but nothing is seeming to work. The ferrets have had practically no out time recently because I am so afraid of them pooping on the floor and pissing off my roomie. Just a bad situation.
Anyone faced anything like this and chosen the same path as me?

Yes and no. lol I am sorry this is happening btw! I am considering moving out so that a) I can live in a Pet- Friendly appt and get another ferret and b) my roommate never cleans. She is getting better though so I may stay another year. I have however, been shunned and harassed because of my pets. I had my Iguana with me when I went to my aunt's once to visit (like for a few hours not to stay or anything) and they all freaked out and I had to lock her in the bathroom. I didn't want to leave her long so I didn't stay. Now I can rarely visit them because they "Hate ferrets" and will not let me bring Koda with (they refuse to even meet him). I am not going to drive across town and leave Koda locked up all day when I am actually off work for once, then drive back across town to get him, and drive all the way back he other way across town even farther to get to my bf's house with Koda... lol So, while I have never been kicked out of a living situation (*knocks on wood*) I do have to be careful because Koda is "illegal" and I do know what it feels like to be discriminated against bc of having exotic "smelly" pets. AND I know what it is like to have roommate conflicts...I have had many. I am glad that you have a place to stay and I am sure that it will all work out better in the long run. If you would like, I can move down there and we can find a place on the beach and be roommates! Then Koda and your fuzzies could all play together, I could see the sunshine and beach, and neither of us would have to worry about roommate issues. To top it off, I think we'd get along quite well. ...*sigh* I wish... lol

Katt, don't tempt me because that living situation sounds fantastic! find a cheap 3 bedroom place beach side and give the ferts their own room! knowing us they'd get the master bedroom the spoiled little brats that they are I am in the middle of packing and should be out by the end of the weekend. Slightly excited and slightly nervous about the situtation. sigh. DRAMA!

I am moving tomorrow in the afternoon. My ex's mom is coming with a truck and is going to load all my stuff up and I will be out of there. Still mixed feelings about it though.
Come on, y'all! I wanna hear your stories of where you made descisions to keep your pets and fought for them!

I have been lucky with Paulie so far. People who are hesitant about ferrets meet him and he works his magic every time. He puts on this teddy bear face and is an angel (in fact, when I travel to friend's with him, he always poops in his box--what's up with that, he doesn't at home, haha. I think he's showing off).
But I am engaged in the ferret friendly apartment search. 4 communities said "okay" where I'm looking, so should you have to move again (I know you've got a helpful situation for now) then you should find something. I thought about getting a roommate, but a few stories from this board have really deterred me from it.

moved in and comfortable and the ferrets are in a better situation than the other house! They have the sunroom to themselves and are allowed to freerange when the landlord is out of town (often) and the door leads out to a fenced in backyard. Guess who is going to get a kitty pool?

Come on, y'all! I wanna hear your stories of where you made descisions to keep your pets and fought for them! Maybe jumping in late, but at one point I seriously considered rehoming my boys b/c they didn't get enough out-time (due to roommate) and I knew it was depressing them. I do have a big backyard though, and instead of rehome them, we made them a 12x6x3' enclosure outside. Their enclosure is more temporary than permenant. I bring them inside if its too hot/cold/wet. They have their cage inside and we put up boards in doorways to keep them to one room (supervised). I also recently bought a playpen (the $50, 11-panel), which will give them free space when I'm home. Leash and harness always helps too. If they can't get free time, at least they can have a 30 minute walk Those are some of the things I did to keep my ferrets with me.. Glad your new place is better for them
