Helllllpppp. My boyfriend and I want to build our own cage. We currently own a superpet cage with 3 ferrets. It's already too small for them, but it's really just for sleep, poop, and eat since they have plenty of out of cage time. Space is an issue, since we -for the moment- live with our parents. Anyway, I would LOVE a FN 142 but it's really expensive. Will possibly save up for one or two in the future. Anyway, we want to add to our fuzzy family so we want a better cage. One with many levels, separate rooms, lots of hammocks and blankets and toys. A place where it's okay for them to play in there without being squished. I need some ideas, it would be awesome if you had any pictures or instructions you could share with me. Help? Ideas?

Do you have a spare closet? You could make a cage out of an empty closet, make shelfs and sleeping dens, and just fill it with lots of blankets. Cut a large "window" in the door, about 3" in from all sides of the door, and replace the wood with wire mesh (not chicken mesh, its not strong enough, you can get some good stuff at Tractor Supply)
Ive always wanted to do that. I have a FN 142, but if I ever was going to build my own cage, I would probably do something like that.

Thanks Chelsea! We've been thinking of possibly getting an old closet from a yardsale, cleaning it and covering the wood with cheap linoleum tiles to protect them from the wood and make an easy clean-up. I have been trying to figure out what kind of mesh to use for the cage. My little guys climb and I want something really sturdy and safe. I'll keep everyone posted on our ideas.
