Ok, so did you just now add this, because I didn't see it last night! LOL I feed any and all animals that come my way a natural diet. Fish, snakes, dogs, cats, etc. I've got some great pictures - I'll add them here in a little bit! If anyone has any questions on natural care for cats or dogs, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm going to throw a plug in here for another yahoo group as well, called raw-lite ( groups.yahoo.com/group/RAW-Lite/)- great group of people, very laid back, very high volume. You can find almost any answers on dog and cat stuff there well!

I have a cat that is raw fed. I dont have any experience raw feeding dogs though. Im relatively knew to raw feeding cats, but its not too hard. My cat wont eat rodents (like the ferrets) she will ONLY eat fish, birds, and raw meats. She wont really eat bone (except for in the birds and fish) so I have to put eggshell powder on all her meat. Cats can be so d**n finiky!
What do you normally feed your other animals, Jenn? Do you feed the dogs whole prey? I've always wondered about how to feed naturally to dogs. I know you can do raw, but I didnt know what people did for whole prey.
BTW- The Holistic Ferret Website WILL have a section of resources for natural diet/care for dogs and cats. But everyone feel free to post your favorite forums, websites, and books here (you might list a good resource that I do not currently have on the site).

My dogs and cats eat frankenprey (for any n00bs, thats miscellaneous pieces of raw animal parts balanced over time to = whole animals). Right now they're eating mostly chicken because that's all we can afford. Normally they get chicken, pork, beef, etc. Lots of beef heart, green tripe (not the tripe available at the grocery stores), etc. Whole prey for dogs would be chickens, rabbits, small pigs/piglets, rodents, etc. Unfortunately, it's rather expensive to feed dogs whole prey, but I'd love to one day! Whole prey for cats would be rodents, small birds, etc. We got Buttons about the time we had switched everyone to kibble for our move to AZ (they ate kibble for about a month because we didn't know what the resources would be like here), and she's the first kitty we've has since having the ferrets, so haven't fed whole prey to a cat - yet. When we move back home and get the ferrets back and eating whole prey again, I'll probably feed the kitten a mix of whole prey and raw - I think she'll go for it. I've personally never had any problems switching cats to raw, but I know I've heard of lots of people who have... My cats eat what my dogs eat. If they don't like it, they don't have to eat - that goes for all of them. If they're hungry, they'll eat! Buttons gets supplemented with cans of cat food for now because she eats SO much I can't keep up with the cost of raw for her right now. Also, I know I keep talking about not being able to afford this, you should know that we recently moved to the middle of nowhere USA where everything costs twice what it does in normal places and my husband is making half as much and I can't find a job because there aren't any! Normally, it's much cheaper to feed raw than it is to feed kibble that's even halfway decent... If you go to jennifer57.shutterfly.com there several photo albums with some of my miscellaneous animals (some mine, some fosters, some 'pet' sitting, etc) and there's a whole bunch of dogs and cats eating raw!

Oh - there's also places where you can get more "exotic" foods that may or may not be natural pray, but is meat none the less. We've tried yak, emu, and a couple others. There's all kinds of other things available, back in Houston I went to www.bones2go.com.

Also, I know I keep talking about not being able to afford this, you should know that we recently moved to the middle of nowhere USA where everything costs twice what it does in normal places and my husband is making half as much and I can't find a job because there aren't any! I understand this more then you can possibly imagine. My ex-boyfriend and I moved from St. Louis, MO to Flagstaff, AZ in August 2006 we had the EXACT same problem and were forced to move back to MO in May 2007. I really liked it out in Flagstaff, that part of the state was BEAUTIFUL (moutains in Flag and the grand canyon to the north and Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon/Verde Valley only 1-1.5 hours away) but there were NO freaking jobs! and everything cost SO much! A burger at Mcdonalds (for example) cost almost DOUBLE what we pay here in MO!!! (Just a side note, alot of the kids at my college, Northern Arizona University, used to go to Lake Havasu for spring break) We had to move back, we were getting into debt, we just couldnt afford it. I miss it out there, and I dont plan to stay in MO much longer. Next time I move it will be to Broomfield, CO (just outside of Boulder). I am trasnferring my over-night job at target (so I have a job BEFORE I move) and I am privately renting an apartment. I know the stress!!! Believe me, I've been there! Here are some pics of where I was living and Sedona (my favorite place to go for day trips when I was out in AZ) The San Francisco Peaks (In Flagstaff): A Bad Pic of Me at the Grand Canyon: Sedona!!!

It's so beautiful! There's so much I want to see out here before we go home. We'll be going to Vegas, and I think the Grand Canyon when my MIL comes at the end of the month. We probably won't get to do anything else, though, unless my dad or someone comes to visit before we leave, but that's coming up so quick I doubt we'll have time... It's definately a good idea to have a job before relocating! Had it not been for my hubby having his we'd be up a creek. My brother is in San Marcos, TX (near San Antonio) and he just graduated college with a major in international business and is having a hard time finding a job. It's just not good right now. Well, except for in Houston, in the refineries - there's always work there That's what my hubby's "other" career is, that we'll be going back to!
