I'm just wondering how big everyone's crew is that breeds their own feeders and how much you are able to supply them with, is whole prey covering part of the week or more of a snack item, etc.
I started breeding mice about a year ago, at the time we had 7 ferrets although when I started only 4 ate the mice, now we are down to 5 ferrets but all of them eat whole prey. My mouse colony is 4 males and 12 females currently, I think if I bump it up a bit, I have room for 6-8 more females than I could feed just mice two days a week or so.
I have been breeding gerbils as well but numbers are small and I am going to quit that after I feed this last litter off, still haven't managed to convince my b/f to let me breed rats. I live in town so chickens/rabbits are out of the question but I'm looking for a supplier as there are plenty of farms by me.

I'm feeding 13 ferrets. They usually get their mice in the evening when they go to their cages for the night. During the day they get rats (supplier) and other meats (chicken, beef, pork...etc). I'm usually feeding the mice 3 sometimes 4 times a week with quail, chicken necks and some other meats depending on supply. At the moment I'm in a position to feed the mice daily, mostly younger but full grown. Today the brat pack got to hunt so they got their mice fresh in the morning and I will give them necks or chicken legs tonight. ciao
