Normally, females will get huge a few days before birth. It will almost look like they swallowed ping pong balls. But some females stay smaller even though they are pregnant. I've had mice that I didn't even know were pregnant, drop huge litters.
If she's been in with the male for over 21 days, you can begin baby watch. Once she gets that ping pong ball look to her, you only have a few days to go.

lol, i think i know why i haven't had babies yet well since I'm quite new at this, but have done research, i guess that doesn't compare to actual learning, it turns out they are both males. LOL. or i believe they are both males. since I'm still new its hard to tell I'm not sure though, because they are in a nest type of thing. I'm not sure what a "nest" is supposed to look like though.

Females will not always look pregnant and then have babies one day. Some will get huge and only have 3-6 babies. I had a female never looked any different, I figured she was a dud. Then she had 12 babies. So you never know until they have had a couple of litters. You say she looks bigger, bigger round, bigger longer, or is she starting to bulge a bit behind the ribs? Round and bulge behind the ribs usually mean preggers, longer just means she wasn't as old as you thought. Good luck!

yea, true i guess. but i have one female that is big and the other doesn't look THAT big. i cleaned them out yesterday and put the females together and the males together. i should be getting litters in about a week.
a male died, from the other male so the ferrets got a snack. yea, at least they like it. or one likes it anyway. belle tried to take the mouse when i put her back in the cage but pebbles was like MINE and took it away. it was cute, i felt bad for belle so i put in a piece of beef.

Yeah, if they have not been together their whole lives males will kill each other. Even if they have been once introduced to females they will kill each other so all males must live alone or always be with females. Me I prefer leaving the males with the females. Its easier than learning you have a psyco sensative female that kills everything new in her cage after she has her first litter. (note this has happened to me when trying to breed mice pet style.)

ok. well i KNOW my female is pregnant, she definitely looks it. the horrible news is that one chewed a hole through the lid and escaped. and she was pregnant, i think so anyway. she was with the male for 2 weeks, so. we set a trap out because i would rather not have tons of mice crawling around. any ideas on how to catch mice??

Take a tube (paper towel ones work best) block one end and pop in a treat then set it against a wall near a hiding place she might be in. Then kind of hide and wait. If she runs in as soon as you see her go in grab it and put her in a bin with a better lid or taller walls. Killing her would be a real waste but if you have no other choice, you have to do what you have to do. Another thing to do is put a tall container with food in it near a ledge she might be able to get to. She may jump in for the food and not be able to get back out thus catching her alive. There are also some live traps for mice on the market. Some people if they use wire cages will put one down with the door open and have their pets (only time I know of this being used was with pets) return to the cage.

yea, it would be a waste, but since our basement is HUGE and their is everywhere to hide, i doubt I'm going to find her alive. i tried taking my ferret down to track her out, that didn't work too well, lol. she's been caught. anyway, at least we won't have an infestation.

my mouse had her babies yesterday. i counted at least 7 of them, but i'm not 100% sure. the eyes are dark so these are from the other male that got killed. i believe anyway. so i'm going to keep 2 of the females and keep them in with their mom, and the other male.
breeding females - 1 breeding males- 1 pregnant females- 1(should be anyway, she's in with the male) litters- 1 produced-

i can see why so many people don't live feed. i held one in my hand and it was so tiny, and warm in my palm.
breeding females - 1 breeding males- 1 pregnant females- 1(should be anyway, she's in with the male) litters- 1 produced- 8(think so)

i picked up two more male mice. long haired. so that should be an awesome outcome. i have pictures. the ones at the bottom are the same baby mouse, the coloured ones pretty much look like that, except for maybe darker or lighter. the mother had her new litter today, it ticked me off. i was hopping it would be another few days, that way i could get my rack built. the other litter is just about 3 weeks, so i hope they'll be ok. i took them and the dude out, and put them in together. I'll hopefully be building the rack next weekend, or sometime this week, so the babies won't have any chance of getting pregnant. i interrupted the mom, during her birth of course, had to be that time, to check on the mice. i promptly removed the older liter and the dad. i removed the dad, to give her a chance to recuperate from this litter and the other one. i will let her wean this litter and then give her a week and put one of the males in with her, i believe i will put the black male in with her. i really hope she doesn't eat this litter, i will check on her in the morning, or whenever i wake up, to see how she is doing. will putting the girls from the other litter in with her, be a bad idea? or would it be good? i wouldn't think they would help, with them only being three weeks. i'm holding back the four females from the first litter, and going to feed off the males. i'll take the albino female, because i know she'll carry some colours. i have this horrible female, she's like suicidal, so i don't know if i'll feed her off, or keep her. depends on what she's like in the next few days. breeding females - 1 + the four females breeding males- 3 pregnant females- 0 litters- 2 babies- 9 + other litter.
