I do know the only way I got Boris off the mush/soups was to offer him the small chunks first, and when he spit them out, he got his soupies. I had to do that twice a day for 2-3 weeks, and one day, he actually accepted a piece and ate it. Don't know if you've got the time for that, but it might be worth a shot.

We try it every few days - either scruffing, or sneaking chunks into the mush. Maybe we'll get it together for a concerted/every day effort soon. As it is, I vary their mush - add in pork or beef. Plus, they are getting ground bone as well. I'll keep you posted.

Sounds good! And yes, and everyday thing would likely win them over sooner. Keep me posted!

The next chapter...
We had a setback with the ground kids. They were eating hand cut/diced, then we got a batch of chicken thighs that nobody seemed to like. Not spoiled, but it smelled different. So, different brand, but back to ground for a couple of days.
We also decided to see if anyone was interested in mice. We added three to the chunk eaters tonight. Midas had first dibbs, but just took it and hid it. Inara promptly stole it, but didn't eat it. So, I stole it back, and opened them up a bit, and added them to tonights dinner bowls (pork necks tonight). We'll see what's left in the morning.

I was just thinking about you yesterday, and wondering how the kids were doing! It's amazing the difference a brand can make, isn't it? They might have a problem with the fur on the mice at first. If they do, get a younger one. Either pinkies, or hoppers. With the pinkies, I just chopped that up at first as well.

Sorry I wish I would have because it would have made things alot easier for you.

The initials trial was not a raving success. Inara and Midas wanted the mice, but only to stash them. Eventually, Inara played the part of a human child faced with liver - she fed the mouse to the cat (batted it out of the cage). The ground kids are on chopped once more. Stubborn creatures! Everyone universally hates beef. I've tried several times, and each time, they carefully eat around it.
We'll keep going with the mice. Maybe I can sneak it in next time it's pork day.

Oh, they can be brats! Glad to hear the latest are back on chopped though. If the adult mice are too much for them again, maybe go for the pinkies to start with. Good luck whichever way, and looking forward to hearing how they are doing!

It's been awhile since my last update - sorry, life has been hectic. Everyone is now on chunked meat. The last three still need reminders that it really is food, and a couple of them will put on a show a night - ewwwww! It's not food! Help us!
But then later, when they think nobody is watching, they can all be found with chicken fat on their chins.
We've tried frozen mice a couple of times, and so far: 1. Mice are way cool toys 2. Mice are for stashing 3. Eat it?? Are you kidding??
We'll keep at it, but for the most part, all are doing well.

Sounds like they're almost there! This has been such a long haul for you, and you've done amazingly well with them. As for the mice? Have you tried cutting them open and squirting oil in them? Or chopping them up and mixing it in with their meat chunks?

I did cut the mice open, and we doused one with Ferretone. Londo and Inara both licked at it, and Londo even grabbed it and did the head shake thing - just not interested in eating it yet. The next couple, we'll cut up and add to their chicken.
Today was a quasi-experiment. I forgot to thaw their chicken, so for breakfast, they got some kibble and Wysong. I left the kibble out all day. It didn't get "all-gone" as it has in the past. When I cut up chicken for dinner, Londo (the worst hold out), actually ignored the kibble in favor of the chicken. In addition, I usually take a couple of pieces and cut them smaller for him, G'Kar and Bella. After a quick taste, Londo headed straight for the big chunks.
They're all doing well, although we took Kaylee in for some blood work, and she may have insulinoma. We'll be doing another glucose test next week (she's borderline).

Good for Londo! He's finally learned what's good for him Keeping fingers crossed for Kaylee, poor girl.

We had a second blood test done, and Kaylee is borderline insulinoma. We'll keep an eye on her, but she seems to be doing OK.
For all 13 official meat-eaters, the current diet is: Lots of Chicken (I get them whole and use my mad cleaver skills) Cornish hen once every week or two (depends on the sales) Chicken organs 1x/week Eggs 2x/week Pork necks/tips 1-2x/week Turkey 1-2x/week
They also get some Duk soup several times per week (with the meats they like less) 8-in-1 vitamins daily
We're still working on the live prey. Not in a rush over it.

That sounds pretty good. Once you get the more reluctant ones eating bone, can you set up an official menu? Monday, they get this, Tues, they get that, etc? Thanks
