The tunnel would be neat. If you look on the remote litter box thread there are these blast gate things that you can use to close the whole - they're only about $5. I ordered mine, I can't wait until they get here let us know ~ I think you'll be very pleased with a FN!!

She "sent" me pictures but forgot the attachment! haha Either way, Koda is getting his new cage on Wed!!!! I am super excited! He wil have SO much mroe room and his corner of my room won't smell like meat all of the time no matter hos much I clean! hahaha

Should I wait to put the shelves on until I have some sort of cover for them? I don't want him to pinch his toes... I am not sure how the tunnel will work vertically yet either, I may have to get a ribbed tubing, or do you think he will learn to Ninja himself up? Having it vertical will be nice bc anything stashed will fall down... hehe Also, what do you guys think about the picture? Is that rust in the bottom or just some kind of gunk? In the first picture it looks like rust, but in the second it looks like it is powdery...like maybe mushed up kibble, or litter or something?

Looks good! It can't be rust bc the bottoms are plastic so thats no prob. When I got mine and didn't have bedding I put pillow cases over the shelves and socks over the ramps.
Thanks for the comments on my bedding, I will draw out how I did the bed and post it up here for you... hopefully within the next day or two. Honestly I just kind of made it up as I went, and used newspaper as "stencils" or patterns. But, I'll get something up for you.

And it is a relief to know that it is not rust! It is going to be a pain to clean out before moving it into my room, but it'll work out - it will be a MUCH bigger pain to drag it up 3 flights of stairs!!! haha Luckily I have my wonderful bf to help out! My biggest worry is that the landlord will stick her head out...I think I'll take it up the "back" way that bypasses her door. Hard to explain it as a bookshelf when it still has doors and shelves lmao

With the no sew bedding, do you find that your fuzzies pull it apart? I can just see Koda trying to pla with the tassels and ripping it open, or if I turn it inside out (my plan for the cage mats) so there is no fringe, I can see him trying to climb inside with the same results! haha

No they haven't yet...knock on wood. It is hard to tell but its basically a circle piece on the bottom and one on the top with walls...so kinda like a little cave? I haven't had time, but I promise I will get you some instructions and better pics of it up.
As for the landlord, just take the doors and shelves up first. They are easy enough to carry alone.

Ya know, those pics are kind of sad. That little ferret needs some blankets and stuff!

Thanks! And I thought the same thing! He looks like he really doesn't have much in the cage. But they had 2 connected together for their 2 ferrets, so who knows, maybe they moved all of the stuff to the other cage, but didn't really totally clean it out, and just put the ferret in it for the pic for a size comparison or something? They are selling their ferrets, so hopefully they go to a good home.

Well I started Koda's first new FN bedding set. It turned out pretty well, but I am not done yet so I am not posting pics yet (*neener neener*) haha jk anyways, I am noticing several issues with this cage. First, how on earth do you keep them from pooping over the edge? I am going to have to put boards in! Second - the cage floor space is about half of the size of Koda's old cage, but with the 2 levels and bigger shelves he'll have more room aver all. BUT it makes it harder to fit everything!

Also, I have the cage next to my mirrored closet...and I foresee a broken mirror. Any ideas on rubber or something I can put over the handles as a buffer? AND because the doors are so wide (GREAT for cleaning) it makes it more difficult to keep Koda contained when I open them...
