Hi Everyone, I'm Kim. We are a military family, we are currently stationed in South Dakota. We have a house in Texas and cant wait to get home again (I'm originally from VA) I have two ferrets. Both of them are rescues. The vet believes them to be about 3 yrs old. Ive had them for about a year. I researched their needs for about a year before adopting them. I like to be well prepared. I'm always looking online to find out more about improving their lives. I cant imagine life without them! Ive been learning how to sew and make tons of things for them. I really like this forum and have found tons of useful information. I cant quite convince myself that live or frozen prey is something I can do. While in Texas I do dog rescue. I have one person dog, a Dalmatian mix named Max. I'm also a member of the lazy hammock forum which I really like as well. Thats all about me. I appreciate the dedication of the forum members here

Hi Kim, and welcome to Holistic Ferrets I started feeding raw, and sid I could never even do frozen/thawed. Guess what Haven't done live, but my furry crew love their meeses. Good for you for researching, and looking to get them on a better, healthier diet!

Hi Kim and welcome to the forum As sherrylynne mentioned you don't have to feed live or even feed prey for your little ones to reap the benefits. My guys get a whole mix of commercial ground, frankenprey, prey and frozen prey. Comfortable with what your feeding develops over time. You may never feed prey but that's ok Feel free to prowl the site, investigate various threads, check out the information see where it leads you. I didn't start out feeding prey either, nor would I have considered it, it was a gradual realization. Ask questions, everyone here is friendly and there's tons of information that is only a keystroke away Please post some pics of your little furdarlings, we love pictures. I look forward to seeing you around ciao

Your furbabies are adorable, what genders? The one looks similar to my Attila (rip) I'm not really good with colours but they both appear to be sables to me. Are there any tatoos in their ears? If there are little dots (two specifically) they would be from Marshals Farm. Path Valley and Canadian don't tatoo. Most of the breeders (as far as I know) don't tatoo either. Hagen (have got out of breeding ferrets but only in the last couple of years so their stuff is still out there) has a bar tatoo, again in the ear. ciao

They are both female. Peekah (the darker one) has two dots in her ear. Kiwi has one large green dot.
Your girl is too cute. Kiwi has silvery strands on her tail and her hind quarters. Strangely enough, she also has one blue eye which her vet said she has never seen.
