Completely ignored the wingette last night. Ate all of her pork though. Gonnatry crushing it a bit more tonight.
I'm running low on variety, so it's looking like chicken until I get paid on friday. Then I'm going to the butcher I found near me and hopefully kick starting the beginnings of a wonderful friendship.

Keep the pieces small for now. It sounds like she's getting overwhelmed with so much to think about. She's getting there, though. Let me know how the chat with the butcher goes

Same old same old. Last night was turkey pieces lightly coated in powdered egg shell, since she's still not eating a whole lot of bone.

It does take a bit of convincing but don't lose hope yet. Is the eggshell working for her poops?

It seemed to today. I was actually able to hand feed her a couple of pieces of bone in chicken breast (she was so cute and I had the extra time to spoil her a bit), and she crunched them down, so she is not completely opposed to the crunchy bits.

That's good news. Ferrets are 'lazy' and won't eat bone if there are other options, so sometimes pushing them a little can work out. Keep the bone pieces tiny and her jaw muscles will get there in time.

went shopping yesterday, and was able to get her pork, chicken, beef, chicken hearts/gizzards, and chicken livers. I am going to go to the butchers tomorrow and hopefully get a cornish game hen.
She is still eating steadily. She is crunching on the tiny bones in the split chicken breasts on her own.

That's great news. The ribs in the breast are good starting points. If you get her a CGH, she ought to be able to handle most of the smaller framework of the hen, though the wing and leg bones might still be a bit much. Keep me posted!

Still gotta get down to the butcher's. Not having a car stinks hardcore.
The chicken gizzards and hearts were a big hit. She scarfed them down hardcore. I'm glad too. The gizzards seem like a good thing to excersize her jaws with. I know they were a pain to cut. XD
Actually, she has been eating a bit more in general. She used to leave three or four pieces in her bowl, but now she eats all of it.
I've been contemplating next paycheck, if she takes to the cgh well, I might pick up a big tupperware container and a feeder mouse and see how she does.

It's worth a try! I've fed live exactly once and I won't do it again, probably. But the kids do love their frozen mousicles! I'm glad she's starting to pick up on her appetite. That means her body is adjusting and accepting the raw - which is good news! My kids all go batty for gizzards and hearts too... it's a good thing it's healthy (all the taurine!) because otherwise it's pretty gross

After such success with the tough gizzards and with the bone in breasts, I decided to give wingettes a try again.
I beat on them with the blunt side of my knife once or twice, and then cut them into thirds. I'm hoping that the small size combined with all of the yummy marrow exposed with entice her to try them.

So she ate all but one small piece of the wingettes!
Today however, she is being a little brat and doing nothing but stashing her gizzards in her litter box. ><;

Oh that is wonderful news, that's a good start and in no time she'll be able to gnaw them herself.
Don't worry if she isn't eating every meal. If she overate before, she might not feel hungry enough to eat the gizzard meal - hence the stashing. It's gross but not a big deal!
Keep crushing the bones for a bit longer, until you think she'll try the whole segment on her own.

Another successful wingette night!
She's eating her pork pieces right now, and I can hear that squishy noise that ferrets make when they chew. I love it. :3
