Myself and my Fiance live on Long Island New York and are the proud parents of Cassi. We are looking for help converting her diet over to a more natural raw food diet and need some help figuring out how to do it.
She is about 1 and a half years old. She has had an ugly incident with a stolen earplug that involved some emergency surgery from which she is fully recovered (and we are now an earplug free household). We recently became very concerned with a drastic decline in her appetite. She eats, she poops, not skinny poops, no teeth grinding, no chin rubbing or mouth pawing, she just seems un-interested in her food. I can always get her to eat by smearing ferrivite or ferritone all over her kibble. We have had some recent success (like today) by changing to a different food. Some of my personal thoughts include: Is the other food bad and she can smell that? is she bored with the old food? is she just a pain in the butt?
we usually soak her kibble in warm water before she eats it. She also enjoys licking gerber chicken baby food off our fingers. No success with our first attempt with hard boiled eggs. Have ordered Wysong's archetype I, raw food diet. We are very curious about where we can easily locate quality whole prey animals.
Cassi is pretty well excercised everyday. She is spoiled. She has a pretty big rice box that she likes to dig in and find little treasures we hide for her like easter eggs. Several long tubes, nesting boxes we made from rubbermaid boxes, tons of crinkle beenie babies (her favorite toys, which she hides behind the couch). We are both teachers so she gets out of her cage for a little more than an hour in the morning and then as long as we are home she has the run of the house. We are super diligent ferretproofers, especially after the time she found an old ear plug at the bottom of a bag left on the floor.
ANYWAY, that was a long introduction. looking forward to participating in this forum and resource.
