1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
On another ferret message board. I have also been reading up a bit on the internet. Gotta love google.
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I would like to feed raw. Soupies, meat, organs, bones. I *might* keep some evo or wysong as treats and 'vet food' Oh and I am not at all opposed to whole prey, but we live in a very small town and whole prey would be hard to come by. I have a friend who has chickens though, so I might be able to do the occasional chicksickle.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I want my gus boy to be a healthy as possible and live the best life he can. Also kibbles seem to bother his tummy. zupreem and natures gold bother him WAY more than EVO. I say 'bother' him, he really only has loose stinky poop with those foods. It isn't like he is throwing up or anything. But the food just doesn't seem to agree with his wee little body.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
Yes I am comitted.
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight?
Just the one. His name is Gus. he is 1 in December. He is skinnier than I think he should be. He *might* weigh 2 lbs. And gus is a healty boy, but has not had his vaxes. Bad bad I now. (Shhhh. My kids havent had theirs either.) I AM planning on taking him soon, but I DO want him to weigh a little more first.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets?
(Please include all treats, supplements, etc) 50% EVO 25% Zupreem and 25% Natures Gold for kibbles
Cooked soupey with ground turkey, eggs and kibbles
Ferretone
n bones
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
I have tried to feed him bites of meat here and there. He always spits it out and runs away from me.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
Gus is a cuddler. He sits on my lap to eats his soupy. He gives me dirty looks if I put it on the floor or *gasp* in his cage. And snuggles up under my chin to sleep when he is full.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
Everyday
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
I don't currently have a camera. My kids broke it. Gus is a chocolate sable though. With white toes and a white bib.
