Ok....we're going to have to work at getting them to eat boned meats. What cuts of meat are you feeding? The chicks have bone but it's too young and doesn't offer enough calcium. We're going to have to convince them to eat more boned meats. Will they eat chicken wings, even turkey wings will offer them better calcium. You can also try chicken ribs and backs, quail is easily eaten as well. Rabbit chunks with bone...my guys like that. Do you feed adult mice at all? Rats?? The bones in them are easily eaten. Just some ideas ciao

Don't boil them, just feed them raw. I only boil the bones soft if I've got a very sick fert and I want to get the marrow nutrients out, and the ferret is eating so poorly that he can't do this for him/herself. A healthy ferret doesn't need to have boiled bones, and if you've not boiled them long enough they're dangerous (splinters and shards). If you want to start mice, we will probably have to start with pinkies (tiny babies, no calcium worth talking about) but great starters. You can try adults but most ferrets need persiasion to eat them. If you're ok with being able to cut up mice then by all means start them on adults because they're much better for them We can discuss this more if you're interested in feeding mice. I will talk at you later ciao

Try them with pinkies to start....this way they don't have to deal with fur and you don't have to think about how cute they are They're really ugly and don't look much like anything except pink. They're not very good as far as bone in at that point but a lot of people usually start them there. You don't have to dress or take out the innards from the mice, you probably shouldn't even bother with the chicks either (I wouldn't anyway). My guys will sometimes not eat the stomach and spleen out of the mice. Usually, if they're really full they just leave those parts and eat the rest, unless the mice are really young. I don't take the innards out of them. The only ones that I do is the rabbits. The rats I let the ferrets clean them, and pick up the innards later (just don't mistake it for a really ghastly ferret poopy). Let me know what you would like to try and I will try and help you through it. Good luck ciao

No apples, raw apples can cause blockages...yes they like them but it's not good for them. The occasional nibble of banana is ok but it's really high in carbs and like kibbles has a tendency to raise their blood sugar in an unatural manner. My guys aren't fond of pinkies....they don't move around enough They will eat them if they squeek but my guys have been eating whole prey for a couple of years now. You can feed any meat (protein source) that you can get your hands on. Beef, pork, venison, lamb, chicken, turkey, duck ....whatever. The way to break it down. Three days of meat and bone, 3 days of just meat and one day of organ meats. If your guys eat their organ meats with their meat then you feed 4 days of meat and 3 days of bone. Like us, they will develop favourites, but they should be eating 3 different types of meats at a minimum. The more different types you feed the better diet your little ones will be getting. I hope that helps, and welcome back ciao

I don't think we ever caught the names of your 3 new additions? What did you wind up naming the little ones?
