decent, a little tough to stick to, but decent. I am going to try to introduce a pork sometime in the next week. I am going to try some less traditional cuts that my local grocery store carries since they are cheaper. Is there anything in particular that I should look for as far as the ratio of bone-meat-fat-skin?

With pork? They really do need fat, as that's where they get their energy. If they'll eat it. Mine won't eat a lot of fat, but evidently get enough, even so. I use a lot of pork steak, and cheap pork roasts. They do get chops from time to time, though.

I tried a new system today. I hung up a thigh with a metal clip so it was suspended. That way it would stay over the dish to avoid getting the nice clean cage all gross and dirty again. The suspended was a total hit! Cooper tore off chunks, backing up, shaking his head side to side, and "killing" the thigh. While Polly got the chance to get to the pieces Cooper normally drags off. So far it seems like a good way to feed larger whole pieces and make sure everyone gets some. My parents came over today and I went to introduce Cooper (forst time meeting him) and I lift him up to eye level before I see his entire mouth and chin area was covered in bloody chicken juice. Now my parents think of him all bloody and after washing off he still has a pink head

Sounds like a wonderful first impression And absolutely great idea on suspending it!

so they little ones got the HUGE neck and all the "guts" from our turkey and it was all gone after a couple hours. Even Polly with her bad teeth crunched through the neck without hesitation. Her head shape has visibly changed too, you can see an feel all the new muscles she has grown. Since she is so small it makes her head to much to large in the cheek/top of the neck area

After they've had the pork, could you please print up a formal menu plan, including(at minimum) the 3 different proteins? I think you're guys are about ready to graduate

we are going shopping today, so pork i on the way.
The crew has eaten a whole chicken officially. It took them three days but they ate it skin, meat, fat, and all extremity bones. The left the breasts pretty much alone. Cooper and Kasrah fought over the fatty rear end bits while Polly ate both wings first.

Do you have any idea how proud I am of you guys? You, and Kasrah, Polly, and Cooper, have done wonderfully well! Let me know how the pork goes over!

Today I tried pork. Everyone gagged and threw it up instantly. Kasrah was eating on my lap and threw up on me It was all in all a rather unpleasant meal time. I ended up giving two chicken wings instead. I am going to see if I can snag some cheap rabbit at the local market and maybe a little lamb to see if that goes over better. I have never seen a ferret throw up to suddenly. For dinner they at 1/4 pound of steak with quite a bit of fervor. I have taken to feeding Cooper in the separated bottom part of the FN, Polly in the top, and Kasrah in her own feeding den. Cooper is just to big and to food agressive, and with him being deaf he wasn't stopping when the girls were in pain and I was having to pry him away from them he was so food crazed......he has to have it all to himself. He is a really "spirited" eater. He'll jump in the air, stand on his back legs, and pace the cage doors the moment food time rolls around. He likes to really gnaw and thrash his food. Watching him eat is fascinating and terrifying all at the same time, my SO compares it to watching a lion mawl it's dinner. Where Polly and Kasrah much have their pieces in a dish and they will quietly chew away at the dish or in a cage corner. I'll try to get video of three of them sometime.

That's odd about the pork! It's one of my guys favourites. Could it have been slightly "off"? Or maybe try a different cut sometime once they've forgotten about it. Yeah- in the interim, try a different kind of meat.

the chops seemed fine. They were bought at regular price and my SO and I had two for dinner last night and they tasted fine. No idea what made the little ones have such a bad reaction, I tried it again and they threw up immediately this time too and scratched at their mouths like I was poisoning them.
I am checking out a different market today and picking up some new meats.

Yeah, I'd definitely keep the pork away for a long while. What has me puzzled is the fact that all 3 had a problem with it. That should rule out a sensitivity. Oh well. Let me know how it goes with a different meat.

I fed chicken wings today. Kasrah is acting weird and wouldn't eat anything but soup today With all the craziness I hope she is going to be okay, poor girl has been through to much to be ill.

She might just be having an off day. I know mine do that once in a while. I've also got some who get really bored really quickly with a given meat, and they just refuse to eat it. That's when I know I've found too many sales on the same type of meat Maybe she's just bored with the same thing too often.

Giving Chicken Wings again today, my fridge is empty, so I am going shopping for the essentials tomorrow. Going to pick up a different cut of pork, some beef, and some chicken.
Here is my basic menu with "other meat" listed instead of pork since it didn't go over well last time. I listed everything in servings for 1 ferret.
M- 1/3 cup beef chunks + egg yolk and ground shell T- 1 chicken wing + 1 chicken heart W- 1/3 cup other meat (given alone until I find something to settle on) T- 1 chicken thigh (given whole and picked over by everyone) + 1/4 cup beef liver F- 1 rib from veal breast (enough for two but I can't really divide them) S- 1/3 cup other meat (given alone until I find something to settle on) S- soup day (offered a sole food since if I give it with "good stuff" it never gets eaten)
----
I need a food scale for Christmas...I think I am going to try to snag my old one off my parents. Also I was thinking about trying a mouse with Cooper, the way he goes at eating makes me think he might take to it well if I give him the chance. It would broaded his diet nicely if he takes to it, just a one a week "treat".
