Hi I am new to holisticferret, obviously! I am from ferretharmony under the name chelsea94. ;D I decided to join since a lot of people use this forum...Anyways I am 15 years old and I love animals. I have a cat, a dog, 8 hamsters, 2 geckos, 1 toad, fish, a betta fish and obviously a ferret who I just got yesterday! ;D Since this is a ferret forum I will introduce her...She is 3 months old, born on September 5th 2009. She is almost 4 months. Her name is Summer and she is a small girl. She loves playing and whenever I walk in my room she runs to the door to play. ;D She never really bit me except for when I went to pick her up she was biting my coat sleeve and accidentally bit my hand. Anyways thats about all I have to say...lol Hi ! ;D

Welcome to the forums Summer!
Are you interested in feeding your ferret a raw diet? My ferret Zoe is around the same age as your baby and she has been doing amazingly on a raw diet. She's healthy and happy and has more energy than I know what to do with!
Hope you enjoy your stay here. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I'm not one of the mentors or anything, but I'm always willing to help!

Thank you! And honestly I am not really sure what the raw feeding is. I understand how feeding raw is good for them but I mean is the term raw feeding only feeding them raw meat or raw meat and I can continue feeding kibble?

Hi and welcome to you and to your little furbaby, Summer. Please feel free to prowl around check out the various threads and get a feel for the list. Everyone here is friendly and you will find a huge amount of information here on how to look after your little furchild. To answer your question regarding raw feeding. Raw/natural feeding is all about feeding your little one the diet it was designed to eat, kibble isn't their natural diet. It isn't a very healthy way to feed and creates all sorts of health issues, but it is convenient. Ferrets are a true carnivore and have the teeth and digestive track to go with that title. They are designed to eat meat and should be allowed to do so if at all possible. I feed my guys commercial raw, a raw mix that I have created myself to cover their nutritional needs (this covers, many different proteins sources, chicken, turkey, emu, quail, pork, beef, salmon, lamb, goat and venison) they also get prey animals as well (animals that they would have eaten if they were allowed to hunt themselves) mice, rats and rabbit. As you read through some of the messages you will see people use a lot of different proteins. Some cannot bear to feed prey as they either still have some of the prey animals as pets or have had them in the past. That's ok, it's not necessary to feed them prey, anything in between can also give them a healthier diet. I hope that I will be seeing you around and hopefully you will post some pictures of Summer, we always enjoy seeing the hyjinx of other little furbabies. Good luck ciao
