I got them from a organic food store here that I dropped by. They didn't touch the rabbit at all. It may be 1) because they never had rabbit before or 2) I don't think it was raw meat...it wasn't specified, but it claims to be 100% meat. It also doesn't specify on any of the packages what parts of the animal were used, so idk....the pheasant did say whole pheasant...but I don't know. I might try another sometime soon but it was NOT a big hit. It was by www.evangersdogfood.com/dog/gamemeats.htmlthat company. Looks okay if you can get your guys to eat it but it's not clear on all the info I wanted to know. As for KMR, should I try that soon? Where do I get it. Also, a random question, but Jack has ballooned up in weight and is quite large. He's our biggest raw/bone/organ eater so I know he's getting the good stuff, but he is probably 4 pounds now. Is this bad? I thought it might be bad if he were on kibble but we know he's getting a good, hearty diet...so....

as for Jack....many ferrets lose weight when they go off kibble because they are getting rid of the fat they gained while on it....but after this loss of fat they start to gain muscle (some some gain alot of muscle lol) so I wouldnt be too worried, if you hold him up by the scruff and he looks like a bowling pin then he may be over eating (which isnt necessarily a bad thing, but you could work on making him eat slower if he is a piggy) but it sounds like a normal weight gain (maybe do you have a pic you can post of him now?) KMR step 2 can be found at any large pet store (i.e. petco, pet supplies plus, or online at drs foster and smith) You can feed it whenever, I do a soup of it weekly (I mix it in with their weekly soups), its just like a supplement you can add Im going to check the canned meat out, I havent heard of it...but then again I dont feed commercial so that may be why

We got in our shipment! I will be feeding ground meat/organ/bone for the next few nights, taking out the kibble. I think Munchkin will try this over anything else. To be announced....

Ground duck, their dinner, was NOT eaten, to say the least. This morning, we put in ground chicken, which they've always eaten before , and so far, it has a little bit eaten. Idk....this is weird.

I know it seems weird but its totally normal...duck and rabbit, pheasant, quail...things of this nature are very rich and are an aquired taste to say the least So we will just have to work on them eating these "foreign" meats One thing I did was mix it up with some chicken (not alot....just a litttle bit) then I would gradually keep adding more then lessening the chicken (this might take a while, just to let you know) Keep trying out the new meats and let me know how everything else goes

okay I'll keep trying. They didn't seem to even eat the chicken, though. I know some of the big raw eaters like Jack and Mickey prefer crunching on a big bone, so maybe this "mush" is a turn off..?

Ohh boy...I hope u dont have the same problem as I do! Ever since my guys started eating chunks and "full" pieces of meat, they now WONT touch any ground! (Unless its pureed into a soup)....I dont know y this is, but I hope your guys dont have the same issue....(and I learned this right after I bought a bunch of ground from hare today ) But if yours have been normally eating ground every once in a while, maybe it just tastes different (with all the hair, skin, bones, organs and such ground in) Give it some time....I think this may be the issue, its just a new taste for them.....personally I would feed the chicken for like 2 or 3 days straight then usually by the last day they are "forced" to eat it (since they think thats the only meat they are getting...kinda sneaky )

okay I'll try that! I hope they take to ground... the thing is, we bought the chicken/organ/bone from hare today a few months ago and they loved it, eating it randomly until it was all gone. But for some reason, the chicken this time wasnt getting eaten.
I think they're at the point where they don't prefer this kind of meat (but Munchkin will try it, I bet), but will eat if necessary...surely they won't starve themselves because they're not getting cornish hen.

Omgomgomgomg!
We have been feeding ground chicken since the last we've talked and they've eaten it fine. We started putting kibble in it too a few days ago, worried about munchkin.
SHES EATING GROUND RAW!!!!!! She ignored the kibble and ate raw!!! Now kibble will come out and if I feed anything but ground to my crew, I will always keep ground chicken in there for her! Yayyyy

Ok, so they ate it! It wasn't liver, it was actually beef kidney, but that's a 1x a week meat because it's organ not muscle, right? Its a lot liek liver. But I cut it up small and mushed it with the chicken and it was eaten!
This morning they got some chicken drums and wings cut up and guess who was eating a chunk of chicken! Munchkin! I got to watch her last night (usually its my BF reporting because I'm gone so much working and school), and it was amazing! She'd carefully go over the bowl, find an area, lick it, bite a piece and drag it out of the bowl and finish it with her eyes closed. Very cute. She licks each side of her mouth, and turns her head each way as she does it, so funny. Like if shes licking left, her head turns left. And etc. Really funny.
YAYYY!!!! So how can I get them to eat unfamiliar things liek duck, pheasant, etc, that I got in the ground sampler pack?

Perfect! I was actually about to mention kidney to you so Im glad u know about it....its an organ and a very good one at that (so once a week only it should be fed) Im glad shes so enthusiastic about raw now, what a change! Now with the delicacy meats ....you just have to keep introducing them (they will resist!) but eventually they will give in, feed it for a dinner and if they dont eat it then they dont eat and will have to wait until the next meal time....they will learn they will go hungry if they dont eat and will start to eat it hopefully (its weird my guys like duck, but for some reason they just wont eat duck necks!? its really strange... ) but I keep feeding it (I feed my guys a days meals worth of duck necks so they dont have a choice for a next meal variety...they just have to get over it and eat it!
