Everyone was such great help with Opie during his surgery and recovery, that now I'm turning to you to help me get Opie back on food. All he will eat is the soupies I make him. He will not eat his kibble dry. I feed him his soupies at least four times a day. I leave the rest in his cage but he really doesn't eat it, only when it's fresh. He is really imprinted on food and is very picky. I'm wondering if maybe I should try to start him on raw meat since I need him to get off of soups only. In his soup I put 8&1 crunchy, zupreem and evo for ferrets and chicken baby food. He would only eat 8&1 crunchy before he got sick. I tried mixing the other ones in but he wouldn't eat it at all then. Has anyone ever gotten their ferret to change over from beeing very picky to raw? How long do you think it will take or should I try to get him back on kibble first? He won't eat anything but soup, no treats, n-bones nothing. I've given him wings before but he wanted nothing to do with it. So if anyone can give me any ideas on how to start please let me know. Thanks. Oh by the way Opie is doing just wonderful, he's almost back to his old self.

I"m glad to hear that Opie's back to his old stubborn self This would be the best time to try and switch the little bum to a raw diet. You can apply for a mentor if you like. One of the easiest switches you could do at the moment is to add a very small amount or ground raw to his soupy. At first no more than a trace, do a couple of days of that then add a tiny bit more and keep adding it until the raw is more than the kibble and you're starting to wean off the kibbles. At this point sometimes it's easier to just purchase commercial ground recipes that have bone and organ meats added. You then work your way up from there. It's really very simple but sometimes having someone to complain to and bounce ideas off of works really well, hence the mentoring program. You can also post here if you want as your questions and problems start to appear. It's what I would do at this point especially as he's not eating kibbles anyway ciao

I agree with Heather. This would be the perfect time to switch. I had to use a puree soup as well, because Boris was so blasted stubborn and picky Took a while for him to realize I really wasn't trying to poison him
