Here's another visual aid to the proof that diet offers them improved health: Granted this ferret is in the beginning stages of a natural switch - meaning he is NOT yet eating raw items - but HAS been switched to much better kibble - as in Evo Ferret/Evo Small Red Bites/Wellness CORE ( all grain free kibbles with high meat based proteins and high fat content). The other change offered this ferret (one of the three new ones I adopted Dec. 12th, 09) is they get water free choice from a bowl. Regular doses of Ferretone and more free time out of their cage than was possible in their former home. This ferret is definitely showing indications he suffers from adrenal issues, so he and his mate will be getting a Lupron shot and Melatonin Implant in Mid January! I refuse to wait until they show drastic coat problems. KNowing what These three have been eating too - its likely that at least two of them are insulinomic. SO I've got to get their blood monitored too. But DaVinci is showing a tremendous coat change already!

I have good pics for Mokkun and great ones for Ovana....Tadakichi and Akiko had decent coats to start with, and with them being white the difference has to be felt more than seen. So...1st up is Mokkun, this was taken the night we brought him home before we have a chance to dump his cage or anything (he was a craigslist package deal): Slightly under 4 months on raw: Ovana (who was eating friskies and left in a dirty empty cage 24/7) when I got her: 1st day home, learnin' about stairs from the other ferts: She looks so happy! This was after about a week home, when she finally got out of her transition funk: Video taken same day as above photo...it was an overnight transition from being lethargic and depressed to totally spunky: 1 month into recovery, she hadn't even started the Lupron and she already had dense coverage on her front legs and patches coming in elsewhere. I love how Mokkun's helping her out with the itchy new fur growth: Less than 4 months since we started: Her fully raw/after detox spring coat's coming in, and she is so glossy and so soft like a puppy's ear!: She is way too smug about her new lifestyle : She started on raw food in September (right after Labor Day), Lupron in October and every time I take her in the vet is so impressed with how much progress she's made in so little time as well as her shiny new coat

Oh my god! That poor baby girl. Thank you for having rescued her from such a terrible situation as the one she was obviously in. I've got tears in my eyes just looking at that first pic!

Yea, my husband said no more ferts while he's in Iraq, but I met her (she belonged to a friend of a friend), emailed a picture, and he's as much of a bleeding heart as I am so I was able to bring her home. She hadn't had her nails clipped or been allowed out of her cage in months (maybe over a year even), that pic was taken her first time let loose (after I got the nails done, I was afraid she'd pull them off in the carpet) and she ran and dooked her little heart out, it was so exciting to be free. I bet if she'd had fur her tail would have been a total poof

GReat Job! Isn't it amazing the power of a decent diet? Dang I sure wish more people could see how feeding cheap cat food and dog food is killing their ferrets crunch by crunch! Its great to see another ferret get a new lease on life! Cheers, Kim

This bulletin is a prime example of how beneficial raw can be.

I just saw the pictures of Ovana.... My goodness! What a turn-around! Norman (and Akai) are only on supplemental raw so far, but I can tell that Norman has come a long way and the raw is helping even more. When we got him he was thin and really yellow (pic doesn't make it look as bad as it was): Now he's filled out and much whiter!: He is constantly improving!

Norman's beautiful, I love white ferts! (So much that I have 2 ) I wanted to thank everyone for Ovana's compliments, my husband's in Iraq and I don't have anyone else around that enjoys ferrets the way I do, that also take pleasure in improving the health of their pets, so it makes me feel like a good 'parent' to get that kind of feedback. I mean...I know it every time she plays and cuddles with me, but people feedback gives me the warm fuzzies too . I modified the post to add more pics of her, if it helps more people see the benefits of switching to raw I'm all for advertising with her.

Both mine are white, too. Norman is DEW and Akai is albino (Akai means "red"). I love the picture of Ovana on the pillow, she really does look happy.
