I have also found a suitable friend for Newt and he should be coming along in two weeks time. He is a little over two years old and already eats mice/rats so hopefully the switch to entirely raw wont be too hard. I will probably need help expanding his diet more than anything else. Ill keep you updated as the new kids come through. Although the adult depends on what my parents say and Rosie still depends on what her current owner decides to do. There is only so much I can say to convince them. I think they are most concerned about thanksgiving break when I am sitting for Beth's eight kids and they are going to stay at our house.... we will have 14 fuzzies for the week if I get these two. I already have a few separate plans of action for handling 14 fuzzies though that my parents wont be able to poke holes through because they are pretty solid Im a little worried about caring for six fuzzies, but two are coming to my new apartment and my mom should be able to handle four. Financially only two are mine as well and I have enough emergency funds for them. lots more poop...

14 fuzzies in house...almost as many as I have...lots of poop Lots of fun too. Total chaos I'd have an easier time with the fuzzies than all the children Once you get into a routine, you shouldn't have much problem handling your numbers. Routine is the easiest route to go with. Keep me posted ....I want to see pics too ciao

The rescued girl will not be staying with us long term. My parents think that six is too many. So I will be taking her from this guy anyway and the shelter mom said to bring her in. At least I know her situation will be better at the shelter where she will have things to do, friends, food and water. The other problem is that she is albino, not a DEW. Personally I dont mind albinos but my mom is deathly afraid. I think that would have changed once she got to meet Rosie but... the decision is made . I feel guilty because the privately bred boy is still coming home with me but I know that even if he wasnt coming home, Rosie still wouldnt be able to stay with use because of my mom's fear of albinos.

I"m sorry for the little girl, but it's really weird because my husband had a thing against albinos too. He just said they were too creepy . Then Odin came to live with us He wouldn't trade him for anything now, but at the beginning.....he was truly on shaky ground Hopefully, Rosie will find a fantastic forever home with someone who will be able to love her and her specialness ciao

I really hope so. I love living with my parents but sometimes I wish I was out on my own, esp at times like this. I do have an apartment at the moment but it is just for the school semester. One day I will be able to take in who ever I want, albino or otherwise.

You have my sympathies, we parents have many idiocycrasies that are really annoying I know that my mother and I have a hard time seeing eye to eye so to speak, and when it comes to my furkids we cannot agree (she hates ferrets...can you believe that ) How's things going? ciao

Well it turns out Rosie was a boy so we named him Robbie. He was also a dark eyed white but my parents had already made their decision. So he is with the shelter mom and he was dooking like crazy when I put him down on the floor. Of course that drew out the other ferrets who decided he was an intruder... he learned to hiss really fast but then he would run away dooking. Luxo's coming is only a week away. My next pay check will be going entirely to a hare-today order or turkey, organs and a few other things. My supply of non-liver/heart organs has dried up so I mnust resort to the ground mix from hare today Im still looking for a better option but that is it for now. I have been giving Newt his taurine mixed into turkey baby food and he gobbles him salmon oil up. he is finally slowing down to about 4 ounces per meal, sometimes three when I am lucky...

Sounds like Robbie is already making his way Newt's still tucking it away, that's a good amount of food at one sitting. ciao

I expect he will slow down once he reaches maturity. He was eating close to five ounces when I first git him. He may or may not be eating it all in one sitting but I feed him twice a day and when I clean out his feeding den before putting new food in, everything is usually gone. I had to buy him a small dog harness because the 5-in-1 no longer fits. I like the dog harness alot better though because it had a strap along both his front and his back. One week and 12 hours until Luxo comes! Im not sure what he will be eating when I get him. Julie said she would offer him more chicken wings, ribs etc to make the switch easier on me. So hopefully all will be well and then maybe Newton and I can finally graduate lol. I will miss having these personal chats with both of you

Two more days until I get Luxo! Julie said she would try and get him eating some raw foods for me so hopefully he will be ready for the swtich when he gets here if not I will have lots of questions about how to switch Luxo and attempt to keep Newt away from the kibble?

How are you going to introduce them and where are they going to be sleeping? Together? or are you going to do an isolation period? Are you only going to let them be together during supervised play only to begin with? How is Newt now with kibbles? I've got guys who are switched who really couldn't care less if they ever eat kibbles again. Each one of my switches were done in a slightly different method taking into consideration, age, temperment, ease of assimilation into the present business and how stressed they were being brought into here. These are all considerations when preparing to make the switch and many of these can't be made until you actually have the furbaby. You know you're going to have to have some photos of Luxo....this is so great. Keep me posted ciao

The plan right now if to give them supervised playtimes and see if they hit it off. If so then they will be next to each other for a few days before moving in to the same cage. Newt hasnt been around kibble since he has been at my house so I am not really sure if he would eat it or not, although the way he hoovers everything I dont think he would much care what he was eating.

I would possibly make sure that raw food was available when they're out together keeping the kibbles in Luxo's cage. I know that when I babysat Loki, Odin and Thor, I didn't want my guys to get their kibbles (very poor quality stuff) so they were allowed back in their cage to eat but there was no kibble allowed outside of the cage. They spent 3 weeks with me and were eating raw within the first week. Odin was eating raw within 2 days , that kibble was really awful Of course they had to go back to eating kibbles when they went home again (it wasn't my intention to switch them though their owner said it didn't matter) Of course when I finally got them back as a rescue, the switch was really easy . I'm sure you will do an excellent job whatever route you choose ciao
