Sadly, I am looking into finding new homes for some or all of my four ferrets. It is a heart breaking decision, but I want the best for them and I don't have enough time or energy anymore.
My boyfriend and I have beautiful, loving ferrets. They are all second, third, and forth hand rescues. I will give you a little information to help you decide if you are interested. I would love to see all four go to a home together where they will be fed a raw diet, or at least high quality grain free kibble. If keeping all four together isn't an option, I would like to find them homes in pairs, which could be split just about any way because they are all bonded equally.
Ernie: Male, silver, about 5.5 years old from Marshalls. We found him on craigslist.com with Didjeridu and have had them both since December 2007. His age is an estimate and he has had at least three owners before us. Ernie sleeps a lot but loves to dance and follow me around our home. He likes to cuddle and give kisses. Ernie is my baby... He hasn't had any health issues in the year and a half that I have had him, except weight loss from a stubborn switch to raw, which he gained back many months ago. He doesn't have any symptoms of Insulinoma or Adrenal disease. He was last seen by a vet in October when he had his teeth cleaned. His rabies and distemper vaccines are good until the end of July.. Ernie will eat kibble, Nature's variety raw, and any raw meats, but doesn't care for whole prey.
Didjeridu: He is our bad ass sable boy. Didjer is about 3.5 years old and came with Ernie off of craigslist.com. He has had many owners before us, so we don't know which breeder he is from. He is playful, mischevious, and loves to nibble human toes and ears. He loves to play with humans, ferrets, and our dogs, and especially loves to cause chaos. He can be a cuddler when he wants, and is an eager kisser. His vaccines are good through July and was last seen by a vet last August for an annual check up. He will eat kibble, any sort of raw, or whole prey.
Ramona: Our little woman from Marshalls farms. She came to us July 2008 and was found wandering alone in SE Portland. We know nothing about he past except that she was skin and bones when she was found, but she has turned into such a wonderful woman. I have never met such a sweet, loving, ferret before. She is truly perfect dancing machine and is submissive with the other ferrets. She is a champagne color with a mask and is pretty petite. She loves to climb and jump from unrealistic heights! She also loves tennis balls, golf balls, or anything that rolls. My vet and I think she is probably about 4.5 years old. She has had no health issues since she has been with us and he vaccines expire this July. She eats anything but whole prey.
Pepina: The baby. My boyfriend brought her home in October when she was about six weeks old, so she is about six and a half months old and from Triple F farms. She is a gray/champagne color with a white bib, white mitts on her back feet, and a little pink nose. Pepina (which means "little cucumber" in Spanish) is playful to an EXTREME, haha, as any young ferret should be. She can be a little nippy with feed, but she has become a lot more polite during the past few months. She has never seen a vet or had vaccines because she is my boyfriend's ferret and he has been putting it off. He found her on craigslist.com from a woman who had just bought her at a pet store and thought she would be more like a cat.. Pepina will eat ANYTHING like it is her last meal... she is a freak for food and toys.
All four are healthy, neutered, and descented. All four are also litter box trained and have been exposed to other ferrets and have always done great and had no aggression issues.
I am looking for the best possible home for my babies. I am trying to find an owner who KNOWS what ferrets are like, their carnivorous diet and medical needs, and has really educated themselves on the emotional, financial, and time commitment pet ferrets are. I would require that their new owner(s) have at least one ferret proof room (whole house would be great!) for the ferrets to play in and can dedicate at least three hours each day for them to be out of the cage. I would also need potential owners to feed the ferrets a high quality kibble or kibble mix of EVO, Orijen, Taste of the Wild, Ziwipeak, Wysong, etc. I would REALLY love to find a home that would feed them a raw diet, but I understand that not all pet owners are willing to do that. Obviously, they need a home where they will receive plenty of love, attention, and care, along with regular vet care, a high quality diet, etc. I will also ask that their new owners keep in contact with me, though phone or email, and not mind me asking how they are doing every once in a while. I'd also ask that if for some reason their new owner couldn't keep them in the future, the return the ferrets back to me.
As you can probably tell, I love my ferrets and I want the best for them. I won't give them up until the perfect home is found. Please let me know if you might be interested two or four of my ferrets. They can be split up any way, except that Ernie & Pepina wouldn't be best together, even though they get along just find.
I am not asking a fee for the ferrets, but will ask for a fully refundable “vet deposit” for each ferret that would be returned with paper documentation that they have been taken to the vet and had their vaccines updated within a month of rehoming. I think that $50 per ferret is reasonable, especially since I would be returning the money. I would be selling their Ferret Nation cage, extra food, hammocks, bedding, toys, etc. depending on when they are rehomed.
I have plenty of photos to send if you are interested, please contact me through a PM or email. I Live in Portland but would be willing to meet you part way or drop them off, depending on where you live.
