I am so not looking for a kit, but I thought it would be nice to have a list for those of us north of the border. Currently I do not know of *any* breeders, let alone natural breeders.

There are apparently a number of BYB in Canada, so you need to make sure that any breeder you locate is both knowledgeble and ethical before buying a kit.

A backyard breeder It basically means a breeder that just puts two unaltered ferrets together and makes babies. There are BYBs of dogs (and cats) too. A byber is an irresponsible breeder. They don't know the pedigrees of their breeding stock and they arent testing for genetic defects, trying to better the health or temperment of the breeder, etc. Backyard breeders usually breed because: "My dog is awesome. I want to have his legacy live on. My children would benefit from seeing the miracle of birth. I want to make money off of my dog. (repay what I paid in theory) They are AKC registered and come from championship lines. I didn't plan on breeding but she accidentally got pregnant. My dog is beautiful, others have told me they want a dog just like it. None of these reasons make the persons or dogs involved reputable or necessarily "breeding stock". These reasons for breeding usually result in what are known as Back Yard Breeders (BYBer) and produce dogs for the sake of producing dogs and not for the betterment of the Labrador breed."** **Taken from Just Labradors Forum: www.justlabradors.com/forum/index.php/topic,34657.0.html Here is a comparison chart for a BYBer and a Reputable Breeder: www.jlhweb.net/Boxermap/reputablebreeder.html
