Either he really hates the new food or there was a lot more water in the last batch then I thought.
He's down to only eating two and a half ounces of food a day with a little bit of kibble thrown in. He's also still getting used to the texture and taste of the food now that it isn't watered down for him. I do have to scruff him to get him started with eating and he's very stubborn about eating any chunks of food no matter how small they are.
I'm really hoping that he'll get used to the food and start to eat it on his own. If he doesn't start eating on his own soon, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. His musk smell seems to only be getting worse even though he's barely eating any kibble and I'm pretty sure he's rebelling. I have to clean the carpet in the ferret room daily now since Mogli will go to every litter box in the room to convince me he uses them and then will proceed to poop on the carpet. He came to me completely litter trained so I know he's mad at me.

Hmm probably hates it the way he eats, lol! Picky little fella. Well lets hope in a couple days he's starts eating more. Does he like egg? Maybe you could add an egg to the batch to make it a bit more watered down, but not a lot. Stinker! Chewie did that to me, but he wasn't exactly litterbox trained, but he knew he was supposed to use it. Well maybe a miracle will happen =P!

Ferrets... They just love messing with us... Mogli ate all of his food with minimal assistance (small amounts at a time from a spoon while I was holding him). He seemed to enjoy it and actually chewed most of the bites he took. I've also noticed that his little tummy can only hold about an ounce at a time of this mush. It's probably because there's less water in it but I'm going to add an extra feeding just in case.

Happy 4th!
I have to admit that I let Mogli have some kibble last night. It's been so hot recently that I've been struggling to keep the ferrets cool let alone the rest of my apartment. 90+ temps with no a/c really sucks. Since I have to hand feed the little brat, I had to pass on that last night since the kitchen (where I feed him) was way too hot.
He did eat about an ounce this morning and I'm still considering what I'm going to feed him tonight. The kitchen window is open and people are lighting off fireworks directly outside so I don't want to stress him out. Local law states that fireworks have to stop at midnight so I might just wait until then to feed him. It's an hour later than normal but it's better than having him eat kibble for another night.

You too! Hope it was enjoyable for you :]!
Totally understand! Raw can become very inconvenient.
Yeah my pit bull hates fireworks and was freaking out last night. Breeze, my little goof, started war dancing and dooking about each time a firework went off, lol!!

So, I backtracked and added more water to the food.
I guess I overestimated what Mogli was ready for. Now that it's watered down a bit, he eats like a champ. He'll even eat larger chunks as long as the majority is a definite mush. I hope I'm making some progress with him... He hasn't had kibble for the last few days.
Also, I've noticed that he doesn't smell musky anymore! I had to bathe him last week since I noticed that he had been peeing on himself a little. I rubbed him down with olive oil afterward and there's been no smell since.

That's great! Glad he's eating it better and eating more! Sounds like progress to me!
Yeah that was one of the first thing I noticed with my ferrets when I started them on a raw diet. It's great, huh? lol!

Sorry that it's been so long since I replied. Things have been the same as ever so I didn't think that an update was needed. In any case, I think I finally have Mogli on an all mush diet! He gives me a sad look when I bring out the kibble for my cat but quickly forgets about it when I pick him up and feed him. He still won't eat on his own from a plate but readily takes his food from a spoon or fingers. It does take him a while to eat though. He easily takes 5 minutes to eat his 1 ounce meal and then Ozzy will devour the same amount in about 30 seconds . But that's why Ozzy is my little piggy. In any case... Getting him on an all raw diet has done wonders for him. He's a lot more active than he used to be... He'll literally keep on running around for around an hour after Ozzy decides to call it quits. He's also able to make a 2-3 foot jump from a chair to the kitchen table in addition to constantly picking on the poor cats... I think he likes picking an easily won battle. EDIT: Now I feel a little stupid. I completely forgot that I'm going to a concert this weekend... I decided on getting a small bag of Stella and Chewy's so my boyfriend would have actual raw to give Mogli. I'm thinking of getting the chicken since that's basically what he's already used to but am very interested in getting the duck and goose variety if the store I'm going to has it... Just wondering, how much of the freeze dried would you recommend giving compared to regular raw? I plan on having my boyfriend rehydrate some of it for Ozzy and giving some to Mogli that's still dry.

Now I feel a bit silly... I was going through all of the trouble of hand feeding Mogli and the little brat was letting me do it!
I got some Stella and Chewy's freeze dried chicken since I'm going away for a night this weekend and my 21st birthday is coming up. I tried to give him some dry and he outright refused it. Nothing I could do would convince him to eat it dry. So, I decided to give it to him rehydrated... For dinner, I made him a soup with 3/4 of his regular mush with 1/4 moist Stella and Chewy's. I added some extra water as a just in case since the S&C wasn't completely moist when I started mushing it up. With a little ferretone on top, he started licking at it right away.
I'm sure I made too much for him but Ozzy really loves the S&C no matter how it's served (so it's all going to be gome by morning). So I found out that I've been unnecessarily babying Mogli as long as I serve him in the right bowl and if the food is a bit watered down. And to think how much time I was spending feeding that little scamp!

Happy Birthday!!
lol, Little stinker!! Well it's progress (sort of, lol)!! I think it's great that you've figured out that he'll eat on his own, though!

I also found out that I have to keep an eye on Mogli when he eats. If he's somewhere that Ozzy can get to, Ozzy will try to push Mogli aside and eat all of the mush. Ends up that he prefers the mush to his regular food. He actually gorged himself to the point of getting sick since he ate his dinner and about half of Mogli's.

Oh sorry I didn't see your top post!! I've been at camp since the 14th and just got back cause I hurt my foot and needed 15 stitches.
Ozzy, lol!! Chewie was just like that.
So glad Mogli is eating all mush and S&C! My ferrets love freeze dried! As for the amount, I feed 1-2 patties a day for 2 ferrets. One about 3lbs., the other about 2lbs.

I'm nervous... I'm leaving in a few hours and won't be back until tomorrow. This will be the first night that I've been away since I got Ozzy.
Hopefully, my dear boyfriend should be able to take care of everything on his own. At least I'll be available to answer my phone by the time he gets home (since I'm going to a concert tonight).
I'm sure that I'll be just as nervous when I'm away for my birthday in a couple of weeks...
of course, both Ozzy and Mogli are playing and running around the apartment as usual without a clue... I'll have to make sure that my boyfriend lets them out tonight...

They'll be ok :]!! Go have fun tonight! I worried about my ferrets when I left them in the care of my younger sister for 3 days. When I got back my room was a total disaster, but the ferrets had been fed and cleaned up after :]! Along with a lot of play time. If anything goes wrong, I'm sure he'll call you.
