Hey all~ The name's Ami, and I hail to you from the land of middle Tennessee. I've had ferrets for almost a year now. I got Lyra back in December and my other a few months ago. Combined with my current roommate we have five ferrets, four girls and a boy, ranging from about 6months to around 4 years old.
It's currently 7am (my nightowl tenancies went overboard this time), and while I had been looking around for some litter training tips (turns out the newest ferret un-taught everyone else their litter training) the section on raw food caught my eye. I suddenly realized that while I wouldn't dream of feeding my hermit crabs processed food, I do it every day to my fuzzies.
So here I am, lurking through the forums to see what info I can gather. I'm hoping to begin the going-raw process as soon as possible, but I'll have to talk it over with my roommate since she's vegetarian and the ferts all share a cage (hopefully it won't be a problem since she's already buying "meat" in the form of kibble).
The ferrets are Lyra (the dumb one), Einstein (the fat one), Lucy (the sweet one), Taki (the troublemaker), and Pan (the newbie). They're all very finicky eaters except my boy Einstein, who will eat anything you put in front of him (he used to steal pizza from his old owner).
I'm just now realizing that this intro post is massively long, but I guess I'm just really excited to get into this. I know my hermit crabs are so much happier, healthier, and more mentally stimulated on their natural diet, and I want my ferts to be, too!
