I think she told me she thought he was about 4. I know she had him for at least 2 years. I figured he was a couple years older. Do I need to look at a different diet for him? Overall health, I think, is ok. He does have a little hind end weakness and he is not as solid as my other ferrets, but his coat, eyes, and teeth (other than some build up) are good. I mean, he is an older ferret, but doing well.

I don't feed my seniors any different (unless their health requires it) than my younger ones. Sometimes the seniors don't seem to absorb their food as well, you will notice weight loss then. I often hand feed them in the morning and at night to see if there is a noticeable difference in weight gain or loss. I call it "topping up" In these cases I will sometimes up the fat content and then again watch. Little Babushka is loosing weight (she lost 1/2 oz to 1 oz), but she really doesn't spend a lot of time at the food bowl. She will eat a bit (spends longer time but eats less) then prowl a little, then curl up and sleep. She's 11 now and the weight loss occured during the summer, I will be interested to see if she puts on some weight, now. If not, she will go to the vets and we will see if she needs something added to her diet or if her blood work is out of line. She's generally a happy little thing, who would sooner you left her to her own devices. She will come up and ask to be picked up and snuggled but for the most part prefers "her" little sleep box. ciao

What about the bottom front teeth? Monster's bottom front teeth are clear. He has the teeth, but it is just so clear it reminds you of little pieces of salt.
