This might be a stupid question since I'm sure most of you feed whole prey and/or RMB's, but I'm going to ask anyways Since I would like my guys to eat Hare Today whole ground raw, I'm worried about their teeth. The thing is I'm worried that they won't eat every part of the animal separately, and won't eat RMB's every once and a while for their teeth. If I can, great! I doubt it though I have brushed (or attempted ) to brush my guys teeth before, and they just go bonkers! In other words, not able to do it effectively, and I don't like stressing my guys out over it. So the alternative to either would be something like Plague Off www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/ProDen-PlaqueOff/232000.aspxIt is basically made from seaweed. I have heard great things about it from people that have used it with dogs and cats, but obviously there's one of the problems (ferrets generally have to use things off-label ). One thing I am worried about is arsenic (this sounds weird, I know ) If you read about it here, it says basically it's not a problem. Also, it has a natural source of minerals like iodine, sulphur, magnesium, and cobalt. Are the amounts of these minerals ok for ferrets? It says to use 1/2 a scoop for cats, for the ferrets I would probably only use 1/8-1/4 scoop a day, or maybe even every few days. What do you guys think?

I am NOT a nutritional expert, but the thing that concerns me is that is that I've read that supplementing with specific minerals can be problematic over time. A complete mix is recommended, and the mineral should preferably be from natural sources. www.acu-cell.com/ses.htmlI would see a holistic ferret vet before starting to use this. If you're serious about this product, you can get an online consultation with my holistic ferret vet at wellvet.com. That's just my opinion, and I don't know much. I tendto be conservative with my babies. Also, I'm mostly a commercial raw feeder - no whole prey. I do supplement with the following: * for bone/minerals, I alternate the following: - mezotrace minerals (recommended by 2 holistic vets) - bonus velevt antler - 0ccasionally - egg shell (powdwered/finely ground) - occasionally * Nanogreens (nanogreens.com) * EPA/EFA/fish oil * Taurine -jennifer

Thanks! I'm not really worried about their mineral intake since they will be getting plenty of bone in their meals. I was mainly worried about giving too much with the plague off. The antlers I have always found interesting since it will clean their teeth. How would I go about getting them to get them though? Do you recommend a particular brand (Bonus maybe?) or type (precut, etc)? I do already give my guys sardine/anchovy oil, emu oil, and olive oil for many reasons. Taurine I was thinking about adding as well since I'm paranoid They make a powdered taurine, would this be better?
