Hiya, I'm Nikki, mum to two fuzzballs. They are just kits still, both jills, by the names of Rinky Dink and Minky Monk. They are about 8 weeks old. Myself and my husband live in the UK - I'm originally from FL, he's originally from Ireland. Our ferrets are free range. I do not own a cage and they love it this way. We currently do not have an odour problem. ) I've been doing research on a raw diet for my ferrets. Currently we've experimented with lamb and pork livers and chicken wings. I want to give these babes the best I can. Rinky and Minky love the raw food as well (took to it like fish in water!). I would like to expand to either a full raw food diet, or one that is 99% raw with kibble as a 'munchie'. I've sourced ground whole rabbit as well as whole frozen chicks/mice/etc. I will do the occaisonal whole prey.....but my husband is squeamish LOL! I'm sure I can source the likes of hearts, lungs, livers from my local butcher. I just want to know how to go about it properly. Hope to get to know other ferret mums. )

Hi Nikki, and welcome to Holistic Ferrets! Please feel free to browse, ask questions, etc. Check out the nutrition section to get a good idea on balance, as well as the mentoring section, or the archives to get a good idea how to switch them. Although at that age, they'll probably take to it like a duck to water

Hi and welcome to the forum Please feel free to prowl around check out the various threads, take particular notice to our nutritional section. Feel free to post questions, everyone here is friendly and willing to give you a hand to get your furbabies on a healthier diet. There is no need to feed kibble if you don't want to, I've got one furbaby who's never seen kibbles (he still wasn't eating when I bought him from the petstore, and he decided that raw was the way to go , he's never looked back and figures kibbles is for snorkling in ). You can also prowl through our mentoring section and see what various menues people have used to feed their furbabies. It appears that your furbabies are well on their way, kits are so much fun to switch...they're just furry tummies with teeth Good luck, I hope that I will be seeing you around ciao
