Where are the doors on the cage?

And there are 2 more doors on the right side as you're looking at the photo...

Are they the same size as the doors on the front of the cage?

I don't think you would have to cut holes in your cage, but you will probably have to cut wood. You could open the side doors and cut two pieces of wood to put on either side of the door opening (like a sandwich), screw/bolt them together after you cut the circular opening for the black tube. Then, you screw the tube into the wood from the inside of the tube. Does this make any sense? Probably not. Still too early in the morning for me.

Jaycee, how did you attach the wood to the ferret nation without it falling down? LOL and how did you attach the tubes to the chicken wire/wood? This seems like such a great idea and I can't wait to do it! (with my dads help, cuz I am NOT a handy person *snort*) AND it will get rid of my problem with the cats eating my ferrets food *woot*

wow. that looks pretty cool. we have a smaller cage but he has free roam of my room. I think the tubs would help with potty "accidents" and cleaning eating area. There's two sm/med doors in front.. wonder if I could rig something up. Thank you for the pics everyone. That provides for good brainstorming

It is held together with screws...the tubes too! Good luck with the modifications!

I just wanted to say that I am so glad I found this forum yesterday. My husband and I are going to begin a project to turn an entertainment center into a ferret cage and I really like this idea of having a remote litter box because I was trying to decide which section I was going to make into their potty area. I'm definitely going to give this a try. My big boy Tucker is very diligent about using the litter pans. My little fly white guy, Atreyu, well he's just in his own world most of the time and he'll use the litter pans when he's back in the real world. This might help him go potty where he's suppose or at least in a place that is easier to clean.

I've finally made the remote litter box for my guys and they LOVE it though my Rebel still uses the corner in the bottom of his cage haha. I just took the top cage door off and put it on top since my babies love climbing. They took right to it

I have one of the superpet cages with external tubing, and I am definitely thinking about giving this a shot. Thanks for the great idea!

I made mine and the whole business loves it! This is my second one. The first cracked down the side when one of my kids tried to open it (it had a locking lid). The new one doesn't have a locking lid and the fuzzies try to push up on it. I'm afraid of a group push and then they'll get out so I keep a heavy basket full of their bags of food on it for added weight. Here's a pic of the old box with the locking lid: and up close:

I've been eyeing this thread for a while now! I was very hesitant in cutting my FN (*huggles!* ), but I really like the plastic blast gates on the link posted above, and I figure if it doesn't work out, or if something happens to where I can't use it anymore I can just close it ?? I'm not very "up" with anything you can purchase at home depot or the like I think I'm going to print out the supplies list and go up there and ask for their help in finding all of the stuff I am usually pretty good at "putting things together" once I have all of the supplies Do you think I could use one of these "Y"s? -- to connect to a litter box, AND a feeding den? So I don't have to cut 2 holes. They are being sooo messy with their (raw) food. And there latest trick... pushing their food out of the cage bars to the dogs

I can't bring myself to cut the ferret nation so I'm stealing Jaycee's idea I don't see why a Y split wouldn't work, though personally I think you might want to find one that branches a little better then the one in that picture for ferret navigational purposes. Maybe a T split would work better?

A 'T' does sound like a better idea. Looks like I'm going to order a couple of the parts online, not carried in the store. Once I get started on this, I'll have to keep you guys posted

This whole idea sounds amazing!! and not to mention easy... I think I'm gonna try it! Plus, taking the litter box out of the cage and make it remote will give them more room to relax! Thanks everyone!
